Sunny but chilly here. We do the seasonal swap out of turning the garage over to Mrs.CiH and the Jeep comes out for the frosts and snow/ice. Just looking at the pictures on this page was depressing. No white stuff that has lasted for more than 30 minutes thus far. I expect that to change before my birthday the second week of December. Two decades ago we came back from a cruise to the Bahamas and drive I-95 North from Ft. Lauderdale. It just kept getting colder and colder. I got grumpier and grumpier. We arrived back in Rochester and the years first snow storm was just beginning. It was a this point that I said we would be leaving soon enough never to return.

Well that didn't last but some day I would like to just visit this place when I find island or Floridian life just too warm. 😉

Hilarious, Dave! The sun and warmth never feels so good without the cold and the snow to reference to. Unfortunately, in the reverse, moving from the warm to the cold always sucks! That is called Autumn!

Frost on the windshields and lawn this morning - first time below 32 since last winter. Luckily it was sunny and zero winds so we walked about 5 miles and it was pretty nice!

Right on - it was sunny and barely above freezing in Atlanta this morning as I walked to my dentist's office. Short sleeve shirt, no problems. Have to shake my head at most of the people who were trussed up like the Ice Age was upon us. What would they do if it got really cold?

Weatherman calling for coldest night of the year here.
Low of 70
(Sorry all--Kyser is eating lobster and hogfish in The Keys. He might even share with me and HRH)

Better start a fire on the beach and switch from a White Burg to a Northern Rhone! (you poor thing!)

We live outside of Chicago. Returned home late last night from a trip to St. Bart's and Anguilla to nearly a foot of snow in the driveway...gonna be a long winter!

For once, the eastern part of the U.S., especially the southeastern part, has had some kick-butt weather while some of the rest of the country suffered. Turkey Day, sat out into the night on my brother-in-law's deck, not a puff of wind, many stars, huge moon rising through the trees. Perfect weather, and it's almost December...

Just yesterday, I went to Widmer brewing company where I tried their 2015 Brrr Ale. It was a brown ale with mildly thick texture, caramel and burnt wood undertones and finished refreshingly light. Was pretty tasty. People were walking out of the brewery a case under arm.

Happy Holidays!

Fourth straight day that the hoar frost has stayed on the grass all day in my side yard. Our house is ~10 degrees colder than in Seattle proper.

Never had the "Brrr" but Widmer Brothers makes some damn good stuff.

The hoar frost has crested the Cascades. Our high today was 21 F. I'd take some pictures but it's dark when I go to work and darker when I get home. Come on Spring. Only 110 more days.

Just got back from out T-giving visit to relatives in Denver. It never made it above 23 the whole time there with the lowest temp inflicted on us being 3F. Luckily we skated on the the DFW rainfall all weeknd.

4 straight days of drizzle or rain here. We haven't seen the sun in a while. In El Nino years we sometimes don't see the sun all winter long.

A beach in January sounds nice, but my next marathon is Boston in April.

You know how often the peninsula floods--no prob.
We had 26" of rain in Mt P but it went out with the tide. The ground is still pretty saturated so a hard rain brings really soggy ground but no worries.
I haven't seen Jamestown/Andrews/Georgetown. They're pretty depressed areas so I would expect depressing updates.
I used to teach near Jamestown but haven't heard horror stories from old friends.

I'm doing the charity thread on WB next week with my donation going to flood relief. Post notes!

I was thinking specifically about mold in buildings. It's amazing that most of those old buildings are still habitable.

Would expect the old buildings to have no insulation....no? Would this help avoid mildew?

Lovely picturesque snowfall this AM while driving into work. The kind that covers everything and makes a nice scene, but doesn't cause problems on the roadways. I should have taken a picture on the snow covering the vines but I was cutting it close with work.

They keep saying that this El Nino will cause a warmer winter but I do enjoy the snow scenery.

Today is only day 2 of the month of December with temps equal or below average for Chicago. They are not expecting any more the rest of the month.

The bad news is that I'm running this morning and it's freezing outside, 14°F

We are in the midst of a deep cold snap (but FL standards) so all my neighbors are in parka's today. It was a frigid 48F this AM when we went biking. Man I don't miss living in the frozen north at all. :)
