a new producer to sample (Progeny).

Love them to death, but for the Special Selection recommend a very long decant. Those are made for the long haul.

Yes, a couple other members gave me the same advice. Once this bottle comes in, I'm NOT going to Pobega it. I plan on evaluating it over several nights, with the first night being a small glass on the pop & pour followed by a second sampling after and hour in the decanter (my usual plan of attack). Then a glass each night for the next few nights.

My wife isn't a fan of Cabernets, and while my wine club is very Californiacentric, it's rare to see anything older than 2009 show up on the table unless one of 3 or 4 members are in attendance. It's a true hardship to drink the 10 year+ aged bottles, but I'm up to the challenge and make those kind of sacrifices for the hobby.

The Trinity Red (Rhone blend) also great and more approachable earlier, but even that benefits a lot from air. I'm thinking this could be a 20+ year aging. The overnight decant though also a good idea.

Myriad's Dr. Crane / Elysian release is live.

Dr. Crane is $125 in 750ml / $280 in 1.5L / $560 in 3L

Dr. Crane Elysian is $165 in 750ml / $360 in 1.5L

Definitely in for the Dr. Crane, but probably not (as usual) for the Elysian.

Received offers today for Alpha Omega ERA, Fisher, and O'Shaughnessy. Wish I could buy em all (see $30k thread...).

Surprisingly, so am I now. Everything about Myriad's Cabs are the polar opposite of my usual tastes, yet I thoroughly enjoy them. Go figure! You can't deny the quality.

Same here - in for both.

Really enjoyed my tasting with Mike in the Fall.

Mike's wife, Leah, mentioned that they had 40% less available of the Dr Cranes this year as compared to last year.
Looks like it sold out fast yesterday.

Scarecrow protocol email just arrived.

...and for the first time, I received it.

I'm assuming my position on the list is far enough down that they will sell out before I get an actual offer.

(I'm almost afraid to get an offer.)

Yeah - I got the protocol email for the first time too after six years on wait list. First I was excited, then scared I might feel the need to purchase, then disappointed that I might not get the offer at all. How is that for a range of emotions provoked by one lousy automated email.

The email to purchase just arrived - last wave - $330/bottle - only sold as a 3 pack. Decisions, decisions, decisions...........

Got a confirmation on shipment of Sandlands today. 4 bottles incoming, probably 3/17. They had noted est. shipping of 3/15 so they certainly appear to be consistent. Now to see if we like the wine...does seem reasonably priced.

Cheers!

This will be my 2nd shipment from Sandlands, and have yet to open any bottles. It's always challenging to purchase new wines from a winery and then WAIT for them to properly mature or settle down before dabbling.

Got a case of Chenin and Mataro hitting the doorstep tomorrow.
Question: How do you know a wine is "properly maturing" or "settling down" if you have never opened one? I try to save a couple from each release for future enjoyment but these wines are delicious from the outset.

Good question sir. I use this online website called CT, and read the reviews.

Was planning on giving my Carignane about 3 years from vintage date before opening, but my arriving Chenin will be opened this summer.

Good decision on the Carignane. It's the only Sandlands wine that I felt was wound up on initial look.

Mine all arrived safely this afternoon. I really dig the new pulp packaging. Looks indestructible.

This week received a case of Maison Harbour plus 6 bottles from Damiani (NY Finger Lakes). Imagine my Sandlands will arrive next week plus i have Carlisle & Stefania arriving soon. Seriously not going to have anywhere to store my 2014 Bordeaux if i don't make room this summer.

Can anyone help me out on a quick Sandlands question? I received the following:

1 2015 California Carignane
1 2015 San Benito County Mataro-Enz Vineyard
2 2015 Amador County Chenin Blanc

I am seeking the original price/bottle of each of these wines. Don't have an itemized receipt and the website is not providing the detail and has not been doing so for a few days.

Need to geek into my inventory.

Any help appreciated. Thanks!
