Stemmy = very high quality?

I get the $$$$=very high quality, but stemmy?

Or do I need coffee?

A wine can be stemmy (probably fermented with a large percentage of whole cluster to give that herbal characteristic) and still be high quality. Some wines pull of a touch of sage / bay leaf VERY well. It works great with Italian food, particularly with Nonna's old school home made gravy - known red sauce to the rest of you non-NJ/NY/Philly, non-Chicago natives. I don't mind a little in a Pinot, Sangiovese, or Nebbiolo if paired with the right dish.

Thanks for insights on "stemmy". Considering all 3 grapes that you mention are among my favorites, will be especially alert to see if I can detect, and enjoy.

Cheers!

I know, I know. In for 6 (2-2-2 Horseshoe) so I can stay in good standing. I'll probably have to store it in the attic, though!

No worries. Next time my wife and I migrate South, we'll have to work out a layover in the Carolinas.

Besides, I have a couple of dessert wines better than that.

Got 6 PN's, no Syrah - am a bit overstocked there.
I'll probably order 6 more in November from the new release.
It's all headed for the sleeping side to be revisited in 2021.

These wines will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to Previous Buyers from June 13th - 19th, 2017. All wines will then open to the entire mailing list beginning June 20th at 10am.

Good people to do business with. I do have a question into Leah concerning the Parker score on the new wine.

I don't think you break the Moratorium. I believe you bend it.

We might need clarification from the Rules Committee

Article XLVIII, Section 14, Para. iii clearly stipulates that, in the case of mailing list allocation purchases, or, where a winery has no mailing list but it is a regular annual purchase by the moratoriumee such that, for all intents and purposes the annual acquisition has the appearance and form of a mailing list acquisition, the moratorium is not in fact broken; its integrity is retained, sacrosanct and unsullied.

No loopholes - by definition, buying wine ends a stay in the Moratorium.

The Moratorium Rules document is almost as lengthy as Sheldon's Room Mate Agreement. Considerable more complicated.

No, if you buy wine then your stay ends. You can restart another stay in the Moratorium the very next day if you wish.

It's sort of like those "ACCIDENT FREE FOR XXX DAYS" signs at work.... once there's an accident, you just start over the next day at 1.

Did you go to their sale on Saturday? Curious to know how that was, unable to attend in person.

I went (first time) and was impressed by the process. An eclectic mix, great if you are an avid bargain hunter but you need to understand what you are getting. Savings varied between 10% and 60% with no particular rationale other than creating a treasure hunt atmosphere.

Back in the 90's and early 2000's, Binny's in Chicago had better, but a more limited range of, deals

Expecting 1 release this week w/some decision-making required.

Got a message today from Bedrock: 8/8 for us newbies.

Not sure about either release, yet. Gotta find out the allocations and, duh, the prices....

I love that.

I prefer the Bordeaux in the spring, so I bought a case there but will probably buy 4 bottles of their Rhone, 1 rose and 1 Chenin Blanc.
