ORIGINAL: ChrisinCowiche This is a winery direct wine deal. There was a single puncheon produced, so maybe 50 cases at most. I bought a 6 pack on reputation alone of the winemaker, vineyard, and varietal. Justin Neufeld, Ciel du Cheval, Mourvèdre... JB Neufeld is a "Cabernet Sauvignon Specialist", but Justin has made one of the consistently best Rhone blends in Washington for over a decade, imo, Gilbert Cellars Allobroges. I haven't bought bottles of Allobroges for cellaring lately, but it's a frequent glass or bottle buy at our local restaurants. Anyway, as part of our annual allotment, we bought a 6-er of 2021 JBN Mourvèdre. Brooke delivered it on Saturday, I opened a bottle before she left our house, and we drank it, half on Sat, half on Sunday. Fantastic, albeit very young, ethereal, light yet dark, heavy but light, wild raspberry/blackberry fruits, sage other herb, underbrush, smooth, spicy finish- especially on day two. High upside curve potential imo with a year of few of cellaring. Brooke played the same trick Justin has played on me before. Me: "Do you have much more of this?" B: "Oh, 'bout 10 cases left... want more?" Me: A day or two later, (today) scurrying to the web site to buy another case. $32/bottle if you buy a case. Brooke will deliver to your house*! *(if you live in Yakima or on Whidbey Island) Damn it, Chris! (And thank you)
