(From the 'Watch Repair' thread.)

I never use the china we got at our wedding either.

Dave, much the same here - we have a lot of stuff we don't use. I've made up my mind not to move it again, i.e. it goes before we do, but my wife will be sentimental and unmovable about a fair amount of it. I am preparing my argument - that all this BS doesn't make us happy; in fact, it makes us unhappy as it contributes to general clutter.

How little we really need, at least by over-blown American standards. I think Joe lives pretty simply....

Maybe because we bought our dishes and our silver later in our lives we have used it more. Just bought a set of dishes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright that is pretty nifty. We've already used it (carefully).

Don't we have a 'What Else Do You Collect or Obsess About?' thread?
Sounds like we need to revive that one!

We are! Library is gone and now turning our attention to the art collection. Happily the wine is still "safe"!

We liberated ourselves of a lot of stuff that, with some thought, we had no real use for and gained no real pleasure from. It helped that they don't build homes with basements in Florida...

The great horse heads off to Ashford Stud this morning, to start the next phase of his life. (For those of you who may have missed it, he won the $5 million Breeder's Cup at Keeneland on Saturday, a fitting cap to a distinguished racing career.)

While sniffing an overfilled wine glass, the pompous Joe explains to his hapless dining parter, "Pinot Noir means Peanut of the Night" as the camera then pulls back to show not only her incredulity but also a very fine Bordeaux bottle.

Details matter, eh Joe?

We're just past the 100th anniversary (November 25) of Einstein presenting his theory of General Relativity.

December 12 will be 100 years since Frank Sinatra was born.

Einstein was wrong - I do not even approach the speed of light yet my mass keeps increasing.
