11/28/2019 - Peter Kleban wrote: NRDidn't know quite what to make of this. Sour but well-made and balanced. Did I like it? It became less strange as I drank a glass. Have to try it again. Nowhere near as convincing as the Peche Lambic, in any case--but that's a different kettle of fish...

4/17/2020 - Peter Kleban Does not like this wine: NRThe first D&R that didn't grab me at all. Opens rather weak, with a note of OJ. After a 30 min decant it was not so orangey, had good balance but not much length. But most important it didn't pull me in at all. In fridge with Repour for two days, after which the OJ note was gone and a slight sourness had developed. But it still wasn't interesting.

5/15/2018 - theronware wrote: 91 pointsThis was lovely, really settled down since my last bottle a year ago. It has slight bricking at the edges. Otherwise, it has that uncompromising Heredia spine of taut acidity, along with a wonderful ferrous/bloody meat quality that accompanies the cherry and tobacco notes. Dynamite when paired with a strongly flavored tomato/anchovy/rosemary dish. I had been going to load up on more 2005 but this 2004 is rounding into something special.

12/19/2017 - theronware wrote: 91 pointsOnly Sauvignon I purchase regularly is Paul et Francois Cotat. Clearly I've been missing out as this Austrian Sauvignon is wonderful. Restrained nose, with a hint of lychee on the second night. Otherwise a beautifully balanced bottle with acid drive, mineral backbone and none of the overly grassy/gooseberry elements of many Euro SBs nor the tropical fruit aspects of CA SBs. Will purchase again.

2010 Peay Vineyards Pinot Noir Pomarium EstateSonoma Coast more |
1/1/2018 - theronware wrote: 92 pointsDelicious wine. Served on NYE with a triple cream cheese (Delice de Bourgogne) -- a magical combination. A soft, sweetly fruited wine -- and no Cali cola notes. Strawberry and red cherries on the attack, round in the mouth, but with plenty of acid structure keeping it moreish and interesting and balanced. Tannins integrated and a silky texture. I generally drink burgundy now but this struck me as a west coast interpretation of Chambolle -- shoes kicked off, no pretension, inviting and effortless. Bought some 2012 and 2015 Pomarium on the strength of this showing and I rarely buy Cali Pinot any more.

3/17/2017 - Charlie Carnes Likes this wine: 96 pointsThis is one of the best surprises I have had in the wine world in a while. I am afraid I won't do it justice in this note. The color is limpid, light red, with a pretty autumnal hue. All at once a kaleidoscope of color and texture present themselves. It has pretty and generous, but light bodied, red fruit attack. It is balanced and just on the right side of succulent, but better than succulent, more like fresh and textured. There is a complex depth to this wine that is hard to describe. Kinda like it is imbued with nature. This, and the pretty aromas of forest berry and spring woods, have given me a world class Pinot Noir that I will be dreaming about for a while.

12/5/2022 11:07:00 AM - Hi Winepog, thanks for your comment. The wine I had was the Becheur Sauvignon Blanc, not the Cabernet Sauvignon. I fixed up the TNs (I hope!).
