Just the way a high quality young pinot should perform. Enough young fruit to take your breath away, combined with well integrated tannins and a sharp but balanced acidity. A joy to drink, and will be even better with time.

4/18/2017 - Shiaxonna wrote: 90 pointsMade from declassified Chambertin grand cru grapes from young vines. Will be reclassified as grand cru from the 2015 vintage. Straight from the bottle the colour is young red, almost purple. Crystal clear. The nose has lots of unripe redcurrant and raspberries. A slightly reductive and acidic nose. The palate shows more of the same with redcurrant and raspberries, but also lots of power. Perhaps not as much power as expected. It also shows some bitter, green tannins.

1/28/2018 - Shiaxonna wrote: 94 pointsTasted towards the end of the evening. This wine really blew me away with its immense power and complexity at such a young age. The level of intensity here is breathtaking. This is the first white Burgundy '14 that has performed at the top of its game that I have tasted. Perhaps they are coming around a bit? They've been too young earlier, but seems better now. Especially if this bottle is any kind of indicator. Fabulous.

2/1/2015 - Shiaxonna wrote: 86 pointsGolden straw color. Expressive and good nose. Balanced and strong and full of gooseberries and hints of greenness. Tasted blind and guessed chablis, but could not narrow it anymore down. Palate shows a bit angular an overly acidic. Slightly off balance. I'm assuming there is a bit of bottle variation from my previous bottle which shone much more than this one.

3/16/2014 - Shiaxonna wrote: flawedClear red colour with slight bricking in the edges. Young colour for being this old. Smells like burnt rubber, plastic with a weak hint of dried berries and fruits under all the plastic somewhere. Time in the glass doesn't change the negative initial impression, and I really don't want to taste this wine. On the palate it's not too bad at first, but a lightweight watery taste soon gets overpowered by a sharpened and unbalanced sting of vinegar and long forgotten wet sock.

5/2/2015 - Shiaxonna wrote: 88 pointsMust say, I noticed tonight this wine is over-oaked. Really good and full of depth and wonderful fruit, but actually a bit much oak. I have a singular last bottle in the cellar but it really needs time to integrate the oaky notes before I will try it again. Too much. Really..

2/22/2015 - "Rhône Rider" Likes this wine: 87 pointsHer denne gått i dvale? Litt lukket nese med rødbær og skogsbær samt litt lær. Nyansert, elegant og lagvis, men mangler likevel konsentrasjon.

2008 Vincent Dauvissat (René & Vincent) Chablis Grand Cru Les ClosChardonnay more |
2/1/2015 - Shiaxonna wrote: 86 pointsLight golden straw color. Smells lots if cheese, honey, brie, cabbage and elderberry flowers. It tastes a bit acidic, a bit weak and unbalanced. The wine suffers a bit from being served blind next to a Leflaive village Puligny '08 which was undisputed white WOTN. After a while lemons dominate the palate, and it seems thin and chemical. Anaemic and disappointing. Guessed Chablis blind, but would never guess this was a grand cru. Very disappointing.

6/21/2013 - Shiaxonna wrote: 87 pointsAt a tasting with Paul Draper in Bergen, Norway. He tells us this wine is released just now in the US and it really needs time to open up and gain depth. He recommends we all wait till 2015 before we start drinking this one. Quite muted nose right now, but soft on the palate and with buttery meursault-ish nose. Calm and balanced on the tongue. Heavy and concentrated. Better in 5 years!

3/29/2013 - Shiaxonna wrote: 91 pointsDecanted, but unfortunately still got some sediment into the decanter. A muddy brown-red colour in the glass. Filtered the rest of the sedimented remnants in the bottle to see what colour it really has, and it shows crystal sparkling clear orange-red with hints of yellow in the edges.

3/16/2014 - Shiaxonna wrote: 91 pointsDark and young red colour.Very few signs of aging. Blind I would have had to say maximum ten years old. Smells dried fruits, hint of broth, rubber, caramel and old cellar. Tastes completely divine. A wine of this age giving these amounts of fruit on the palate is magical. 56 years old and kicking butt like a teenager. Fruit, flowers, power, balance, concentration and a richness goes all the way through the body of this wild stallion. I'm riding!

12/25/2012 - Shiaxonna wrote: 88 pointsLight straw yellow colour. Grapefruit, pineapple, kiwi and green gooseberries on the nose. Very full and concentrated nose, much simpler on the palate. Lots of tannins but also a lot of green apples initially. Balanced nicely in the mouth. Perhaps a bit short in the ending.

5/3/2019 4:14:00 AM - I guess they will drink well from now until 2025 at least. QPR is better than most other regional burgs, especially because this producer is solid. Will get much more expensive in the coming years as the producer becomes more well known.
