Wines with 25+ Years Non-Blind (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Sweet tea copper, fully resolved color; incense, dried roses, maduro cigar, dried fruit, leather; balsamic on the palate, still very alive, very interesting, I wanted to smell this all day but I feel the palate was a little bit better which is something you rarely say, incredible amount of umami that keeps building; very good and surprisingly delicious; finally a Borgogno that exceeds expectation.

Very light color in the glass, but the wine got better and better with air. Overall it was consistent with my previous experience. Complex nose of dried flowers, caramel, quite a bit of red fruit, tar, and cherries. Good structure with present tannins and fruit notes that picked up weight with air. Long finish. Amazing experience.

(Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo Riserva) Light brown red color with ruby lights and pale meniscus; baked cherry, dried cherry, autumnal nose; a little maderized, ripe cherry, raspberry, dried cherry palate; medium-plus finish 91+ points
(Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo Riserva) Bricked medium red color with 1 millimeter clear meniscus; lovely, mature, ethereal, cigar box, roses, mint nose; lovely, silky textured, mature but still relatively youthful, ripe cherry, dried cherry, raspberry, roses, cigar box palate; has 25+ more years to go; long finish 97+ points (a truly satisfying, and remarkably youthful, mature, traditional Barolo; decanted for 3 hours, which helps explain why it showed so much better than the non-decanted bottle I had at a Bipin Desai tasting earlier in the year; original bottling, not a reconditioned bottle)
(Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo Riserva) Bricked light medium red orange color with 3 millimeter clear meniscus; autumnal, tea, light tobacco nose; tart orange, light tobacco palate with medium acidity and grip; long finish

Passed it’s prime. Skunks for a few hours. Rose petals and tar. Much better after a few hours

Ornellaia Dinner (Stefani Prime - Lincolnwood IL): Lingering red fruit in a vibrant package. Good depth, layered and maybe more interesting than really tasty, but sometimes that is fine.

2 hour decant. Still very alive, good fruit notes not very sour. Great bottle condition.
