Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend more

Intensely perfumed in the nose, berries, cherries, coffee beans, mints, lavenders, roses, pencil shavings, and pinewood; very creamy, concentrated, and meaty on the plate, berries, cherries, bell peppers, dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, and wood spices, also still acidic and tight; long long finish; overall, 93-94 points at this stage, surprisingly still in its youth; will wait for another 5-6 years at least before the next bottle.

Intensely floral and fruity in the nose, chamomile, dates, grapefruits, pears, nectar, and buttered toasts; layers of fruits on the palate, cherries, lemon peels, rock salt, walnuts, yeasts, and wood spices; long finish; overall, enjoyable enough despite the still noticeable acidity, so 93-94 points at this stage.

1996 Château Cos d'Estournel

St. Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend more

Another stellar bottle of 1996 Cos d'Estournel with no sign of going down the hill compared to the one tasted in 2017; so 96 points overall again at this stage; however, when tasted side by side with 1994 Dominus, a bit shy of complexity and depth in the nose and on the palate.

Floral and fruity nose full of citrus fruit, honey, and lily flowers; acidic and fruity on the palate, citrus fruits, roasted nuts and toasts, yeasts, and wet pebbles; long finish with lasting fine bubbles; overall, 91-92 points at this stage; should evolve further in a few more years; tasted at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal in London.

12/1/2019 1:23:00 AM - It was good though rather expensive. What surprised me the most was their steak (grilled the best way that I have ever had), and others were good but within my expectations.

Full and rich aromas of cranberries, raspberries, strawberries, mints, truffles, and wet forest floors in the nose; the palate, acidic, creamy, and fruity with juicy red berries, whipped cream, and some wood spices; more complex than the previous bottle yet still not as complex as desirable; long finish, with more pleasant wood spices and tannins plus those juicy berries from the palate; overall, 91-92 points for this bottle; should continue to evolve in a few more years.

Cherries, eucalyptus, graphite, mints, oak spices, and tobacco leaves in the nose; black berries and cherries, licorice, and oak spices on the creamy and juicy palate; anise, cherries, dark chocolate, and mild spices in the heavy and long finish; overall, a typical new world wine; 89-90 points.
