Super funky on the nose. Very savory on the palate. Bacon, olives. A hint of spring flowers but it's overtaken by the strong savory scents of bacon fat. Think I'll go back to drinking beer.

Deep dark fruit. Some smoke and scorched earth. This was medium to full bodied and very feral. Meat, blood, charred beef, some floral notes on the back end.

Dark, shinny, opaque juice from Santa Lucia Highlands. Concentrated black fruit with a huge black pepper overtone. Licorice and spices are also present. Good length. Allow it to breathe at least half-hour before serving. Recommended

Dark black purple and no transparency. Aromas of cherry, licorice and black raspberry. Smooth and slightly chewy. Dry and flavors of cherry.

Big wine with a killer flavor profile of bacon, leather, pepper, blueberry, blackberry, and purple Razzles. I've become a massive fan of Gary's vineyard over the years, having tasted pinots produced by Morgan, Loring, and Miner. This vineyard has some distinctive qualities that seem to jump out regardless of the producer and the varietal.

Smokey campfire and bacon on the nose. Powerful but graceful. Tannins haven't completely resolved but show great cool climate notes of tar, meat, and wild herbs. Terrific bottle.

Big red fruit from the glass along with some spice...hint of white pepper. Black cherry, boysenberry, toasted oak and hint of vanilla on the palate. Tannins still moderate but integrated with medium plus alcohol. Long finish with the return of the white pepper nuance. Pretty big wine that can still age but drinking nicely now.

Whoa, a big fruit bomb of blackberries and plum. Huge fruit on the nose and palate. Tannins provided a nice, smooth structure. Nice wood, oak on the finish. Great mouth feel with a long, long finish. Nice stuff.

This felt a bit nondescript and lacking in intensity. The finish was a bit flat and short and lacking in richness. I happened to have the '15 Tycanon Tytanium open at the same time and that was far more dynamic and interesting.

This has improved again over the last few years. This now has more weight, more excitement and more precision. It's altogether more serious and expressive. There is spice, but nothing over-done, there's some racy intensity of red and black fruit. This is a great example of a wine that shines with more age; I was a bit disappointed when I tasted this in previous years, but this is so much more virile and decadent now vs. before. It's amazing the difference a couple of years can make. This may be better still in two years - a bit more softness could make this better still.

This has improved since I had it a year ago. The dry, white pepper backbone is there but more fruit is showing, balancing things out. Quite imposing. Showing well now but will likely show better still with more time.

This one is a bit shy and closed at first, but once it opens up its surprisingly refined. A bit one dimensional, but really nice - nuanced, some light white pepper tones, but not overpowering. Nicely done.

It seemed to us to be in an ackward phase. After a coule hours it began to come alive. Very spicy, herbs, red fruit. Our guess is it will continue to improve for a few more years.

A little big and hot out of the gate. after about 3 hours in the decanter it was smooth and rounded, coffee and chocolate flavors. Rich. Very good. The next day it had faded.
