Nine years since bottling, smooth, mellow and satisfying. Drinking this reminded of a Dick Francis novel about a fictional character who bought great wines from outstanding vintages and uncorked them to enjoy, much to the horror of critics who considered such wines sacrosanct, as if enjoying them wasn't the point. Uriah is why I drink wine. Solid testament to the high quality of wine produced in Walla Walla, Washington which happens to be a really neat town. Visit Walla Walla. Visit Spring Valley Vineyards, or just buy their wine. Keep up the good work! Big fan!

Decanted and tasted single blind. I found this to be a graceful, lighter Uriah with a redder fruit profile and interesting spice box notes. Not easily identified.

CT Seattle Merlot and Merlot blend Tasting (Amoroso Room, Bellevue Wine Storage): Dark garnet in the glass. Alcohol, bramble, and chocolate on the nose. Quite acidic in the mouth, with simple generic fruit blend dominating. Then the acids dominate the finish. Overall impression was of a simple wine. Tasted single blind at CT SEA merlot and merlot blend tasting. My eighth of nine, group's ninth of nine by a lot (it lost to a flawed wine!). The person who brought this was vocally adamant that they hated the wine, and were quite surprised to see it was the wine they brought upon reveal.

Worthy of the accolades! Very aromatic, thick/textured, smooth tannins, fruit forward with much complexity. Wonderful now, but will improve with age. Highly recommended

Always enjoy drinking SVV wine-- truly reliable. This Uriah is aging nicely. Dark ruby hue, smoky, deep dark berries, spice, clove, and a twinge of almond/vanilla (a little bit of everything). Drinks nicely, smoothes out as it breathes. Agree with others-- very consistent wine…vintage after vintage.

This may be the most expressive Uriah I have tasted. It is the most complex on the front and most vibrant on the finish that I remember. We hold each vintage going back to 2002.

Dark ruby colored, full bodied, complex layers of tight spicy red currant and black raspberry fruits are accented by spicy clove, hints of smoky anise turning to a big mouthful of subtle cinnamon and hint of mocha on a big floral tongue tingling smooth dusty tannins.

Cherry, tobacco, thyme with a hint of pencil lead on the mid-palate. The tannins are resolved so the finish is more about the fruit and acid than tannins.

Black cherry, cola, and tobacco on the nose. Similar flavors, firm tannins, and a long finish.

Improved from the last time I had it. More integrated and balanced. Be sure to give this one about an hour to open up as there was some funk on the nose at the beginning that eventually blew off as the wine really opened up. Much better on night two.

Dry, short finish. Notes of tobacco, yellow leaves, red clay, and blackberries. A little bit of pencil also felt. Reminiscent of Washington State wines, yet without the big punch. This wine is at its prime now. While it won't do any damage, cellaring it longer will add little to this wine.

My suggestion is to come home on a Friday evening, make yourself a steak, and pour this in a big glass. It'll be a hit.

Oh my, what a luscious wine. Dark fruits. Silky tannins. I poured through an aerator to soften the wine. I feared that a 2010 would be too young. But it is drinking just fine. Enough structure to hold up for several years, but not sure it will get much better. Not sure it can get much better! Not a new world fruit bomb, but certainly new world. Some subtlety .... herbs and leather. At $ 60 a decent wine. But at $ 30 a fantastic wine. I purchased three bottles this week. If there is any left, I will buy more.

This was a pretty tasty, fruit forward Bordeaux blend. The mouthfeel was juicy, but not jammy. It was like a nice California Cab blend. There was definitely some oak on the finish, which was maybe just a bit too much. It gave some nice vanilla and dark coffee flavors to go with the plush fruit.

Overall, this was an enjoyable blend, that maybe could've used a touch more acid to be even better. It will still be enjoyable for most people.

I got this on sale for $35, and felt it was a fair value at that price. At the full $50 retail, it would not be a great value.

Solid wine overall, just a lot of oak for me at this point. Decent fruit and balance other than the strong oak. Give this another decade or so to integrate.

Dark red with slight fade at the rim. Raspberry and plum dominate the nose. A slight medicinal smell indicates higher alcohol. Medium + body, still slightly tannic. The Cab Franc component makes its presence by adding a slightly herbaceous note. Certainly a powerful wine, a few more years in the cellar would probably see things integrate more and merit another point. 53% Merlot, 36% Cab F, 8% PV, 3% Malbec. www.advinetures.ca

The nose was classic Uriah. Big crushed concentrated blackberry. The palate was a little tight but still pretty tasty. I think this wine is young and/or needs more than the 30 min decant I gave it. Lots of potential.

Hour and a half decant, this is a big, bold bottle loaded with dark fruit and oak, with enough acidity and tannic structure to keep it tame enough to enjoy the alcohol level it runs at.

Fruit-forward and heavy on the oak. Smooth mouth feel, but distinctively absent on the mid palate.
Half-bottle saved under cork and re-tasted on day 2; same aromatic profile, fuller palate, more prominent tannins.

Deep purple hue that opens with dried herbs and floral aromas. Red plum and peppercorn on the palate with a lingering finish of almond and cedar. In its prime drinking window, with softer tannins and medium acidity. Paired nicely with grilled pork tenderloin.

Made in the Walla Walla style, namely red fruit, taut, polished, and with(intentionally) removed tannins...(Can someone please explain the point of a toothless, red fruited, Merlot-like Cabernet Sauvignon blend?) For wines in this style it is rock solid and well made, but generally bland and thus boring.
