5/17/2024 - Ernestas Likes this wine: 91 pointsThis powerful BdM must be in some sort of sleeping state at this moment, or my palate was just exhausted from many wines prior this one. Produced only in top vintages from a single vineyard. Fermented in steel and concrete, aged for 36 months in Slavonian oak barrels and 8 months in bottle. Medium garnet colour. Medium+ intensity aroma of cherries, tobacco, leather, earth, vanilla, roses. Medium+ body, powerful and concentrated, spicy and bit too much warming sensation, great complexity, medium+ fine tannins. |

5/23/2024 - Stevere Likes this wine: 97 pointsThis is a total powerhouse Brunello from one of Montalcino's best wineries. It broods for about an hour and then starts drinking just so beautifully. Dark fruits, spice, Cuban tobacco, and a hint of cassis, great balance, and a very long aftertaste make this great bottle of wine. Still a bit before peaking, it has at least 15 years of life left as a significant wine. |

5/20/2024 - spidermark Likes this wine: 93 pointsWe just had the good fortune of visiting the winery, where we did a tasting of the 18 and 19 Brunello, along with the 18 Pianrosso and the 15 Pianrosso Riserva Santa Caterina. They were all excellent, but the 18 and the 19 were such contrasting styles. For me the 18 has an elegance and a silkiness that gives it a very warm, plus, sensuous and refined element, the 19 though it's considered a great vintage, had a rustic quality and a tremendous amount of personality. It felt like a farmer in dungarees compared to a 19th Century Italian gentleman in a fine suit. |

5/17/2024 - Sebastian80 Likes this wine: 92 pointsSurprisingly intense and complex aromas directly upon opening. Lovely mix of cherry, blackberry, leather, cedar, some underbrush, spices and a touch of roses. Balanced acidity and friendly tannins. Medium body. Unusually quaffable for a RdM. A hint of bitterness in the finish. A wine to drink young in my opinion. |

5/7/2024 - BRogo Likes this wine: 90 pointsBeautiful color with a touch of rust orange around the rim. nose is a good mix of feminine floral undertones and masculine aged sweet balsamic and cigar box. There’s still a good tannic structure drying out the top of my tongue and edges of my cheeks. The acidity is still very present flowing over the top of my tongue. The palate follows the same feminine floral notes and masculine balsamic notes with tart red fruit, wet bark, wet leather. The primary notes still exist while starting to turn tertiary. I’d like to see where this develops over the next 1-3 years. |

5/4/2024 - La Cave d'Argent Likes this wine: 94 pointsWine Spectator Grand Tour (Las Vegas, NV): This Brunello is produced only in the best vintages, being sourced entirely from the 29-acre Pianrosso vineyard. Fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks and concrete vats, it was then aged for 36 months in used Slavonian oak foudres of varying sizes. Medium-to-deep garnet in color, it flaunts an intense bouquet of red currants, dark plums, blood oranges, pickling spice, cocoa, violets and loamy earth. Medium-bodied, seamlessly alcoholic (14.5%) and with lively acids, it delivers flavors in line with the aromas, wrapping them with plentiful plush tannins and a modicum of wood. Layered on the mid-palate and lengthy on the back end, this is an absolute delight to drink. It should reach its twentieth birthday with grace. Drink now-2038. |

5/1/2024 - brewnello wrote: 90 pointsDrank at Seattle CT offline Brunello double blind. This wine came in 6th of 8. All wines opened 1 hour before tasting. This was still closed but seemed flat, a tad boring with only mild cherry and a bit of earth and rust. I want to like it but I find this wine overrated. I’ve had 4 of this vintage. I saved a glass in corked bottle and retried next day - did not improve. The WOTN was 2006 Casanova tenuta which was incredibly in comparison. |

4/28/2024 - DizzyOneCheck Likes this wine: 91 pointsBased on recent experience, I'm finding many of the 2018 Brunellos to be drinking nicely in their youth. On opening this was tight, making me wonder if that wasn't the case here. Slightly astringent and puckering with notes of dark cherry, leather, grapefruit, earth. With air, notes of tobacco, violet, rose petal and wet earth emerged. Medium body with generous mouthfeel that was more integrated than I expected. Not quite creamy but texturally very nice with a little air. |

4/27/2024 - acyso wrote: 88 pointsSangioFest, Volume III "It's my favourite spot" (Chicago, IL): Quite intense, with a darker profile. Heavyset fruit, with a slight liqueur-like quality overall. Kind of chewy but not particularly compelling, especially since this shows some of the worst aspects of the vintage in the overripe fruit. |
