4/19/2024 - CCris6537 Likes this wine: 90 pointsMedium yellow, dominated by the aroma of oak barrels, with aromas of butter, cheese, macadamia nuts, hazelnuts and a little bit of nectarine. It also has a buttery texture and taste in the mouth. The acidity is medium but just right, and the aftertaste is of high quality. |

5/16/2024 - ddecotiis Does not like this wine: 50 pointsThis is absolutely unacceptable wine. Concha y torro is clearly using this as a trash brand. The wine taste strongly of nail polish removal, ash and rancid fat. Had tastes from two separate bottles. |

5/15/2024 - caspernick wrote: 85 pointsMedium ruby colored with medium viscosity (13.5% ABV). Medium (-) intensity aromas of capsicum, bilberry, fresh cut oak, juniper and white raspberry. On the palate I get medium acidity, medium (-) body and medium (-) tannins. Medium (-) intensity flavors of the aforementioned aromas resulting in a short finish. Pleasant but not complex or memorable- good if you’re looking for a greenish Carmenere without being too vegetal. 85 points for this $10 bottle made by Concha Y Toro makes it a 3 star effort to drink soon. |

5/12/2024 - The Drunken Cyclist Likes this wine: 90 pointsRetail $100. Very Heavy Bottle (730g; 1lb 9.7oz). Under cork. 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc. I bought this and a 2005 a dozen years ago online for just over $60 a bottle and I had planned to open the two of them together as a mini-vertical, but, well, that didn't happen. Oh well, this one is not getting any better. Quite dark in the glass with plenty of spice and a decided herbal element and there are touches of fruit on the edges, mostly dark (blackberry, cassis, plum), but I fear this might be on the downward slope. The palate follows that fear with somewhat muted fruit, an intense spice note on the mid palate, more than ample acidity, and a surprising amount of tannins on the finish. Yeah, this is still excellent, but I feel it has dropped a step (or two) of what it once was, signaling that it is (passed?) time to drink. Excellent. 90 Points. |

5/9/2024 - markcic Likes this wine: 92 pointsOpened for two hours to slow ox then took to a local BYOB where they decanted it for us. Dark fruit on the nose the palate was dark berries, cassis, tobacco, wood and some spice. A moderate to long finish made it a most enjoyable wine. |

5/4/2024 - La Cave d'Argent Likes this wine: 94 pointsWine Spectator Grand Tour (Las Vegas, NV): Viña Don Melchor's 2021 vintage is a deep-to-opaque ruby blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Merlot, aged for 15 months in French oak barriques (68% new). Deep-to-opaque ruby in color, it is aromatically effusive of black currants, kirsch, licorice, exotic spices, violets, mint and dark chocolate. Full-bodied, fresh and with seamless alcohol (14.8%), it delivers flavors congruent with the nose, injecting a thread of iron. At this early stage, the plentiful oak and equally plentiful tannins have not fully integrated, dominating the mid-palate and lengthy finish. This terrific wine is a baby that will require some patience. If it fleshes out as anticipated, a higher score will be merited. Drink 2028-2051. |

5/8/2024 - Lion's Share Likes this wine: 94 pointsThe nose is complex and very expressive, displaying layered plum and black fruit with earth toned notes of flint and wood ash. The fruity intensity of the nose softens to a more elegant expression on the tongue. The fruit is balanced and integrated with fine tannins and supported by excellent freshness. Notes of mint and cocoa appear in the mouth and follow on into the long finish. |

5/5/2024 - DrELW Likes this wine: 93 pointsThis is a clear dark violet colored wine with some slight bricking on the edges. The flavor is dominated with black fruit (blackberry and black cherry). The body is full and the consistency is fleshy. This wine at 20 years of age has a developed complexity, and is certainly within its drinking window. It should drink well for another decade. There's crisp and moderate acidity to go along with some refined and chalky tannins. There's some satisfying bitterness on the finish. This is not the best vintage of Don Melchor that I've had, but I'm pleasantly surprised with how good this bottle was. |

4/21/2024 - Bodyfxr wrote: 91 pointsDecanted for an hour and over the course of drinking. Medium to full body. This wine has definitely evolved. Quite different from my last two bottles. Tangy red and dark fruit with a hint of menthol. The finish is smooth with silky integrated tannins. No chalky finish. Even though the finish is more balanced, the wine in general was not. A bit to much acidity and alcohol with a less pronounced fruit profile. Hence the lower score from my previous bottles. This was probably at its peak 3-5 years ago. Drink up. |

4/26/2024 - AGELVIS Likes this wine: 96 pointsRaspberry, plum, rosemary, and white pepper (from the official tasting notes). There’s was also some burnt popcorn kernel. The nose is oaky and very youthful right now. The palate is amazing. Tannins are plush and the finish is long. My score is based on potential, but I truly believe it. |

1955 Concha y Toro Cabernet Sauvignon Casillero del Diablo Gran Vino PirqueMaipo Valley more |
