I don't quite remember what I paid for this, but I don't think it was much (as a redacted wine from Full Pull), but this is killer. Big fruit and very clearly Boushey Vineyard...darn, only bought two...wish it would've been more.

Blind I think I would have figured out it is a zin, but it is definitely a toned down style that I'm guessing was picked earlier or from a cooler site. Popped and poured and the nose was there immediately, with lighter red fruits and some spice. On the palette is where it becomes clear that it is a zin, but with less body and density than I'm used to (I don't intend that as a criticism). This is very easy drinking but if you slow down to pay attention, there is a lot of complexity. First try of this producer and happy I have several more.

2/15/2024 10:24:00 AM - I had a similar reaction to 2020 I just drank, also my first LM Trib. I have more experience with their Syrah and this followed the same style. Cool site, but still enough ummph to feel the variety and power, with lots of complexity and smoothness. Cool site for sure, but also exceptional wine making from a team that has it fully dialed in.

This wine was enjoyable, but the precipitate floating in the bottom third of the bottle was very offputting. Maybe it was acidified?

Poured through vinturi than drank with chicken parm while CFP championship occurred. Bottle lasted past halftime, and opened up beautifully. Dark fruit, silky smooth middle palate, and very long finish. This has shed some weight, baby fat since my last bottle and is in a really good spot. I would be interested to see slow ox vs. vinturi and I may try that next time if I remember soon enough. Great berserker day purchase a few years ago and ready for that event again in a couple of weeks. Huskies lost, but the bottle is a winner.

Best vintage of Orr CB I've had. Rich golden pear and quince fruit, nutty with a little lanolin, and no RS like some past vintages I've tasted. Medium-plus body, elegant finish. Perfect choice from the list of a local wine bar to welcome some friends back to Washington.

Nose of dark cherry cassis, a hint of vanilla and leather. Palate is warm and inviting, finely grained tannins, good structure, rounded edges suggests Merlot influence maybe? Finish is long and luscious. This wine will improve but drinking well now with an hour or two slow ox. May not have the acidity needed for extra long aging, but will last 10 years easily. Thanks to Marjie K for suggesting I buy this on wineberserkers.

11/17/2023 - La Cave d'Argent Likes this wine: 91 points

Comprised of 95% Grenache and 5% Mourvèdre, this deep ruby Southern Rhone has lots to offer. Loaded with dark bramble fruits, pepper-laced black cherries, bittersweet chocolate, Provençal herbs and loamy earth, it is medium-bodied, fresh, minimally oaked red with soft tannins and seamless alcohol (despite being listed as 15%). Dense in the middle and lengthy on the back end, this is a modern version of the appellation that should show well throughout the remainder of this decade. Sampled over three hours from a bottle that had been decanted through a Vinturi aerator, this showed best after the first two hours in carafe. Drink now-2030.

Decanted, then let fly! Lovely currant, and all the red fruits, maybe a hint of blue. Then came the baking spices, and at some point some really interesting root beer notes. The tannins are still pretty chewy! I'm just checking in with this. It's so hard to wait! But wait I will. 2 more years? Can I do it?

Nose is pickled meat, feet, tapenade, sweet oak. Palate is briny, meaty, feety, cranberry. Medium acid and shortish finish. After an hour picks up some weight, but not much structure or depth.

Grilled a steak that completely overwhelmed this wine. My bad I guess, but Syrah is often a grilled steak pairing for us.

Fell apart into a metallic mess after 2-3 hours open. Never have I had a young wine fall apart this quickly.

Pop and pour followed over 9+ hours. Go Huskies! Bright purple color with magenta edge, nose is New French Oak, med-high toast, New American Oak, sweet vanilla, dark cocoa. Palate is chocolate enrobed bing cherry, chukar cherry, core acid is steady and strong, medium weight but gains weight over evening, chewy, dusted cocoa mouthwatering tannins, demands lipids. Long finish. Still a baby, with lots of oak influence, particularly the American oak dominating at present, but not off putting and will be exciting to see this wine develop. Upside potential. Current rating 93-95, so split difference, but I could see this going higher. Very high yum factor.

My first trip to Walla Walla; 5/12/2022-5/14/2022 (Walla Walla, Washington): More structure but still quite lean. When I think of the Betz La Côte Patriarche which is also from Red Willow Vineyard, I am not even sure how these are from the same site.

11/26/2023 9:28:00 PM - I attended a seminar at Taste Washington several years ago where 5-6 Red Willow Syrahs were presented. Same vintage, different blocks, different winemakers. The winemakers mostly attributed the differences to the different aspects of the various Syrah blocks. Bob Betz and Greg Harrington were on the panel, but I can't remember specifically what either of them stated about their particular blocks.

Notes after a few hours open but it showed well from the pop. Dark, inky ruby color with very slow, clear legs and no sediment. Profound nose of concentrated cherry, brambles, hot tar, and licorice. Palate is medium body with good acidic grip and friendly tannins. Love the balance and observance of some restraint in terms of sweetness compared to so many New World Syrahs. Compared to six months ago, I think this trajectory is still upward. . Delicious.

Day 2: Even better with green olives, dried flowers, raspberries, white pepper, minerals, spices and tar. Super complex wine and long finish. Excellent value at purchase after a disappointing first bottle. 93 points
Recommendation: Don't shy away from the 2020 vintage from Washington. This is great and have had some other amazing wines.
