2016 Celler Comunica Montsant La PeludaGarnatxa Peluda, Grenache more |
10/18/2020 - huse Likes this wine: 92 points‘La Peluda’ is made with 100 percent Garnatxa Peluda (Hairy Grenache), sourced from a small plot of 80–90 years old vines of the Mas d'en Cosme estate (calcareous clay and slate soils). A rich and very elegant wine that was aged for twelve months in stainless steel on its fine lees. Only 1200 bottles were made. Deep ruby-red in color and a fragrant nose of ripe red berries, orange peel, licorice and hints of leather and red pepper. The complex and extremely well-balanced palate is marked by intense plum and cherry fruit, a velvety structure, harmonious tannins and a fine refreshing acidity. Long delicious finish. A very enjoyable wine, drink it now and over the next 3–4 years.

2007 Thierry Allemand Cornas ChaillotSyrah more |
11/26/2020 - GrapeScott wrote: 90 pointsPurchased on release. Decanted 3h before serving. Gorgeous old school Cornas nose of black pepper, smoked meat and crushed rock, accented by black licorice, herbs and blue flowers. The flavors are wild and complex with shoe leather, game meat, green pepper and black fruits. The palate is a bit thin, at least compared to the knockout nose, and it seemed to tire a bit with air, so I am not sure this will make old bones. Very good but not transcendent, as many Allemand wines can be.

12/16/2020 - GrapeScott wrote: 92 pointsMeaty nose, laden with granite and geranium notes. Elegant and floral, like a Cote Rotie, but with a chewy finish. Needs time but approachable now with air (I used a Vinturi). Good value in traditional Cornas.
