On the slurp sweet chocolate covered cherries, a little earth, oak lingering in the background. With air time this becomes less sweet and more serious with dark berries, which is welcome. Acid low, very mild tannins, relatively short finish. Day 2 from capped bottle no vacuum, the fruit is mildly oxidized but otherwise largely the same; this holds together pretty well. Overall a pleasant but simple merlot. Good QPR. |

Nose gives a touch of prune but is mostly scented of fresh dark fruits--black cherry & plum type of scents. Dried / smoldering wood in there as well. Taste & feel is not overly dense or heavy but of good flavors and a medium mouthfeel. Finish is a bit short in my initial glass, but second pour & immediately drinking it is better--suggesting you need not give much air before drinking this. Good acid, a smoke hint, and some fresh dark fruit on the finish that has mild tannins. Good fruit, a couple of components on the nose & finish...83-85, with the nice structure & decent finish I'll go on the high end. The acid even made it an acceptable wine to wash down a medium-well steak. |

Lingering on being over the top. Its all just a bit obvious at this point, however it is a $7.00 bottle. |
