Fantastic out of the 375ml. Plum fruit on the nose. Intoxicating perfume as it opens up. At some point a bit of a nail polish note. Big savory palate. Solid tannins. Delicious

Bottle 1/2

I really hope this was a flawed bottle, although the cork looked perfect, and the color still was a pale straw yellow with even some greenish hues.
Went from coiled up to opulent and open in a matter of minutes. Terrific complexity and structure - for all of half an hour, after which the wine lost it's backbone and became a flabby, somewhat bitter mess.

My experience with GGs of this quality from this vintage indicates that the specific bottle should be an outlier. I sure hope it is.

I still think the wine is delivering great, especially for the money. Had it in Zalto Universal and it performs great.

A very well made Sylvaner with impeccable acidity. As expected from this lower tier grape, the body is a bit light and watery and the aromas limited to subtle stone fruit and some green apples. A summer terrace wine.

This is an excellent value colombard/sauvignon blend.
Pale lemon.
Mango, pear nose.
Peach, apricot palate.
Light, 11.5%abv.
For drinking over the next year or two.

For the price point and being opened early, I am not mad. I would/will buy again. As has been pointed out, this is sourced from Gonnet. Nice bit of earth, plums, liquorice, blackberry with some pepper notes and decent acidity. Great "want to open something red, I don't know what, it's Tuesday" kind of wine. Will let it breath longer next time.

First sniff and sip revealed a fine virile Atlantic style red with quite full body, savoury fruit with a certain overlaying fragrance, notes of ivy, leather hints, crisp acidity, residual tannic structure and good length. Alas the lamb pairing was basted with honey and this unbalanced the wine in the direction of excessive acidity and masked the finer points. I have one bottle left and will be much more careful to pair it with more savoury and somewhat plainer dish. Very good.

Remarkably good. Right now, at 4 years, it's already drinking very well, despite a bit of youthful edginess. The edges will soften over the next coupe of years. Excellent QPR. The 2020 is up there with some of the best previous Stolpman Originals, which were also excellent. I accidentally bought more of this than I meant to, and now I'm glad I did.

Cork was in great shape, a bit stained at the bottom. Decanted for one hour. Subtle nose of tart dark fruit with a whiff of nail polish. Medium bodied, supple, rather tight, showing some tart dark fruit with volatile nail polish and a hint of tar carried by vibrant tannins and firm acidity. Nice dusty kick on the finish. Felt still quite tannic and youthful and should have many years left.

Baja California, Valle de Guadalupe 2021 Jose Luis Durán Icaro Ensenada ($43). Red blend (44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Nebbiolo, 9% Petite Sirah, 8% Petite Verdot); mid-ruby, rim variation, viscous (13.4 alc.); red fruit, berries, cedar nose (13 months French oak); low acids; low-mid tannins; balanced; long red fruit finish like an older Italian (from the Nebbiolo). 16.5/91.
Orange
Dark yellow in color with a golden hue.

Full-bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Showing lemons, red and yellow apples, apricots, light citrus, nuts and light earth.

Tangy finish with almonds and sea salt.

This is a very tasty orange wine from Pompei. Elegant and fruity. Buttery and round.

100% Caprettone grapes. A very small production of only 1,900 bottles.

13% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$90.

The wine has a pleasant sweetness and moderate acidity, with smooth tannins. It has a strong, well-defined structure and a good level of concentration. Overall, it is very delicious.
Red
bright light garnet color, after several hours of airing- a most attractive spicy nose of crushed raspberries, punchy, on the palate primary with firm structure and tannins but showing a pretty mid-weight berry and cherry fruit, spice and dried herb notes leading into a long and fragrant finish, a hint of strawberry with time, cloves, a great persistent spice core, buttery and joyous fruit, this is already showing nicely but expect great things in just a few years when the aromatics on this begin to mature and expand, a harmonious and classic wine.

Medium body, salmon pink colour 12.5% abv. Intense aroma of orchard and tropical fruits. Strawberry and lychee palate following by lovely acidity on finish. Simple but very fresh and vibrant wine, it's brilliant for its price. Food friendly, well pairing to Mediterranean salad with Tzfat cheese. Serve 10ºC - 12ºC. Open a few minutes ahead. Drink now.

Too dry for our tastes, we like them more lush. Hard for us to compare this with the big CA Chards we usually drink. OTOH, I tried it because it's the favorite white of one of our wine-savvy friends. That's wine :)

One of my fav CCGS producers. Wine #6 in the top 100 of Wine Spectator in 2014. Upon opening this had wonderful vibrant red cherry on the palate but after 30 minutes it was more dark and subdued. Perhaps this bottle getting to the end of it's best drinking window. black cherry, cherry, leather tobacco earthy

Beautiful fruit expression to the nose, but I love Nebbiolo. Fresh cherry fruit on the palate. And good minerality throughout.
Red
Full on ripe red and black fruit, some heavier floral notes with a very distinctive herbal note right in the middle, mineral, basket full of cherries and currants.
Palate with a certain overripe tone, a few balsamic notes that with time, fall back in line, hugely concentrated, same flavors as the nose, big but not aggressive tannins, medium finish

The complexity on the nose was the saving grace for me because the tannins are a bit chewy still. Great character to the wine with leather, game/meat juices with deep red cherry fruit intact with a peppercorn spice component that is almost Northern Rhone-like. It's a relief that these Morot wines can start to resolve, as I have tasted a handful from the 90's and early 00's that can show a lot of unresolved tannins to make for a rustic impression. This bottle, however, is starting to hit its stride.

Not a muscat fan usually, too fruity, too floral, too sickly sweet, but not this one. Medium yellow, discrete nose of lychee, camomille, a touch of pear. On the palate there is searing acidity buffering the fruit. Very nice, the high quality fruit and winemaking are palpable.

Bottle was put in play by review by Tim M, suggesting to drink now.
He‘s right (thank you!). But it’s fine. This wine is in a great spot now.

Seductive, straight out the bottle. No sharp edges, when reaching the nose. Ripe plums dominate, alcohol is present, even if not intrusive.
The mouth is very velvety and smooth. Plum compote again, some licorice. Alcohol recedes. Lingers quite long.

Will this one hold another decade ? I doubt. Will it collapse in the next two years ? No. Will it get better ? Unlikely. Put remaining bottles high on the ready-to-drink list and enjoy while they last.

Tasted blind and never would have guessed Pommard- spicy elegant nose of clove, cinnamon with pale red cherry fruits and some dried herbs in the background. Fine tannins for Pommard with good clarity to the fruit emerging in this secondary stage of development. No rush and I don't think this will ever have a particularly hard edge to it.

Great bottle brought by L&G to the table......classic black Howell Mtn fruit on the nose and palate....quite dense with great weight. The tannins are softening, and the wine is very well balanced, but I feel it is still early for this one. I only see it getting better with more time. Easy 95, almost 96 tonight. Maybe 97 down the road?

Thanks for sharing, G!
