Very soft tannins, fruit forward, decent length although relatively one dimensional and lacking serious complexity. Both nose and palate present black cherry with a touch of black pepper with a touch of cloves. Rated 84, a very good, well-made wine but lacking the complexity to drive it into the 85-89 range. |

Very mature dusty flavors of dried fruits - rasins, figs, sour cherries, and prunes. Hints of oak, black tea and dark chocolate. Some pleasant bitterness, but the alcohol quite present and a little too "hot" on the aftertaste and missing some freshness IMHO. All in all - a fully matured and lovely Amarone true to the style - but not my style anymore. 90+ |

To be honest I've had exceptional Ripasso-wines that was more powerful, intense and showed deeper complexity than this wine. Typical "Amarone notes" like plum, tobacco and cherries. But by the end of the day this wine just doesn't do it for me. It appears dull and a little closed - at least to me. Not a wine I would recommend buying. |
