1/29/2024 - SouthernStateofMind wrote: NRDecanted four (4) hours. Still requires a long decant but this is starting to reveal itself with some coaxing. Offers aromas of black/red cherry, cassis, black plum and baking spice with undertones of dark chocolate, leather and underbrush. Generous presence on the palate delivering combination of red/black fruit flavors on a dusty earthen foundation. Solidly structured with noticeable grip that requires significant patience to fully uncoil. Provides dry mouth-puckering finish. Reticence suggests the drinking window on this has just begun. I’m just not sure how long the fruit will hold up. Drink over next 3-5 years. |

12/16/2023 - viniferatu Likes this wine: NRLotsa ripe cherry and plum, a little something herbal. Full and tangy, a little tannic grip, lots of tart cherry through the finish. Nice stuff, beautiful purity here. Drink it over the next year or two I think. |

10/7/2023 - RGCM Gananda Likes this wine: 92 pointsPrior bottle was 18 months ago and this wine has improved almost exactly as I'd hoped, fully justifying the score I originally gave it. Black cherry, plum, earth and spice notes on a nose that's much more balanced and pretty than previously. Just above medium bodied with very pretty black cherry notes upfront that have rounded out a bit and are a touch more expressive than previously. Mid-body is both more open in general and better integrated with backside structure than previously. Plum comes in through the middle along with additional black cherry. The biggest positive changes where through the middle (decidedly more open, more expressive and better balanced) and the backside (better integration). Tannins, acidity, tart black and red cherry as well as spices earth and minerals are all still present. In the prior bottle, these were much more dominant and the wine needed 5 hours to really come into balance. This time, it was showing well after an hour and got better and better over the course of 3+ in total. Showing very well at present and should continue to evolve in this fashion. My open my next bottle as soon as Q2/Q3 2024 to take advantage. |

10/6/2023 - Bob H wrote: NRMeh - I opened this side-by-side with a Siro Pacenti and there is literally no comparison between the two wines. I've heard that Pieri is considered a pretty decent producer in Brunello, but I've never had a 2006 that I thought was even good, much less representative of a wine from a strong vintage. |

5/26/2023 - funwinesports Likes this wine: 92 pointsSort of surprised by the relatively low scores. This is a very approachable, silky-textured Brunello with breadth on the palate and a long finish. Very well-balanced and enjoyable now, but don't be afraid to cellar. I believe wines like this help to solidify Brunello di Montalcino as perhaps the best value in fine red wine, anywhere in the world. |

Loaded up with dark cherry flavor, and nice tobacco and earth on the finish. This is in the zone, might pull one of the riserva magnums next year to check in. |
