Aged separately in Slavonian oak for 18 months and 12 months in a bottle. Medium+ ruby colour. Medium+ intensity aroma of cherries, tobacco, undergrowth, leather, strawberries, dried rose petals. Medium+ body, lively structure, racy and pleasantly austere, medium+ acidity, bright fleshy and fresh red fruit flavours, earthy and smoky notes, firm tannic structure. |

It has everything one could wish from a Sangiovese of this level, starting from a bright cherry red color with no sign of aging. The nose is super complex, with red crunchy fruits, the earthiness, dusty, flowers, tobacco, closeing with a perfect balsamic note. On the palate is very intense but also super balanced, with smooth but present tannins, bright acidity and tastes perfectly reflecting the nose. Very long and pleasant finish. This is definitely a top wine to be bought and kept still a while in the cellar for further developing but still very enjoyable now. |

Fortunately, we had abundant time to wait and savor the first course (Caesar salad and yellowfin crudo) and allow the wine to wake up. By the time the main courses were served the wine presented well with sweet black cherry, licorice, violets and a touch of mocha. The tannins are well integrated but maybe not fully resolved. But there is no reason to hold this much, if any longer. It’s delicious now. Well balanced and excellent with food. Only some very slight sediment. Popped and poured in a casual restaurant without decanter and glasses much too small, but with time the wine opens nicely and presents very well. 13.5% alc. With The Shack is Back (beef) burger and picante (pepperoni and pepper) wood-fired pizza. 03.22.24. Recommended. |

On opening it was not showing much but after 2h open it is marvellous. Tannins are present and and the acidity is really good which tells me this will age very well for another 10 years. |
