A fine NdM from a renowned producer, a pleasure to return and taste this single vineyard production of pure Sangiovese farmed from 50 year old vines. Aged separately in Slavonian oak for 18 months and 12 months in a bottle. Medium+ ruby colour. Medium+ intensity aroma of cherries, tobacco, undergrowth, leather, strawberries, dried rose petals. Medium+ body, lively structure, racy and pleasantly austere, medium+ acidity, bright fleshy and fresh red fruit flavours, earthy and smoky notes, firm tannic structure.

91 points today, probably 93+ points with 5 more years of aging on it. This was a pop and pour and we did this wine a disservice by only decanting it in the glass for 10 minutes before drinking. In its current state, it is tight and closed. That said, this has all of the stuffing to age and develop into a wonderful wine. I recommend a minimum 2 hour decant if drinking now. Otherwise, hold for 3-5 more years in the cellar.

Plummy aromas with some woody notes. Meaty, ripe and quite soft on the palate, with fine tannins. Not as powerful as the 2015.
