Stored in a cold cellar then "lost"! Pronounced bouquet of black fruits. Deep colour surprisingly young. Full bodied dense powerful. Excellent balance. Classic Priorat. Avondeten met varkenshaasje, geuze-mosterdsaus, spruiten en kroketjes. Deze Monsant is donkerkleurig, kersenrood met wat dakpankleur, wat neergeslagen anthocyanen die rondzwerven in het glas (fles werd plat uit frigo gehaald). Complexe neus rood frt, zwart frt, drop, caramel, vanille, koffie... Superzachte rode wijn, zalig mondgevoel, droog, mooie fruit zuurtjes, zachte taninnes, hoge concentratie aan smaken: bramen, bosbes, champignons, koffie, gebrande caramel. Top! This bottle officially wins the award for the hardest bottle of wine I've ever opened! But, it was worth the work! What was hiding in 2019 is here and showing spectacularly in 2021. Much more of a meaty, mushroom, and earthy backbone with the same dryness, minerality, and light smoke. Long finish. If you have a bottle, drink it now or soon, because this is what a wine at its peak tastes like! 93/100 ----- Original (11/5/2019): Coravin Intense dark plum color. Sweet cherries on the nose, chocolate, almond/amaretto, and some light smokiness, like a fruit wood. Very subtle aroma. The wine is deceptively dry with a fair amount of tannin. The first punch of flavor is fruit wood, like the nose. Cherry is the underlying fruit. Notes of clay or something chalkier like limestone. Decent length to the finish. I feel like this wine has a lot more life left in it. Nothing crazy going on here--a really nice, easy to drink wine. I'd love to try it again in a few years.
