Cherry, blackberry, currant, gravel, tar and quite a few tannins. Delicious with the roast, herbal chicken.

But the wine could age some more. From 375 ml bottle. This was a great buy for $20/bottle in June 2008. Those were the days!

Clear ruby garnet, pink at the rim still
Some dried cranberry and cherry nose
Great balanced juicy acidity, completely resolved tannins, this is in a fabulous place and drinking perfectly after 20 years in storage. Ready now, but in no immediate danger.

In a great place. Lots of plum black fruits and earthy flavours. Medium length finish. Hard to see how it could get better. Very enjoyable.

Same as my prior notes. You can't it for a half an hour and then served. Wine is soft in the mouth and has beautiful blue and red fruits. Has a little pony barn and some tobacco. Finishes smooth. No hard edges and drinking perfectly right now.

Mörkt röd och fortfarande mycket frukt - inte ett uns av ålderdom, skulle gissa vinet har en bit kvar till sin pik. Syra, frukt, tanniner är fantastiskt integrerade och balanserade, och man kan ana lite svaga toner av tobak. Ett andravin från ett premiumslott som överglänser det mesta jag provat från den - enligt mig - överhajpade årgången 2005. Kort och gott ett utmärkt vin. Önskar jag hade flera flaskor.

Drinking well with air. Opened the bottle 4 hours, no decant. Typical Pessac notes of tobacco and pencil lead. Tannins still evident in the first pour, melt over time. Happy to have 8 more bottles. I think this drinks well until 2030

My first ever Bahans, and one from the incredible 2000 vintage too! Chateau Bahans is Château Haut-Brion's red second wine, and was later renamed Le Clarence de Haut Brion in 2007. A Cab Franc, Merlot and Cab blend.

Whilst SKT had bottle-breathed this for over 3 hours prior to dinner, there was still that pervasive but not unpleasant mild funk on the nose. Sweet spices then followed, and quite a distinct garrique aromatics and raspberries with chocolate on the palate.

Acidity and tannins are very much resolved, with tobacco and some smoke on the finish. However, I craved for nuances of minerality as I would have expected from a Pessac-Leognan. Medium-long length finish on this fully mature offering, I would recommend to drink up.

2000 Bordeauxs continue hold on to its legendary status. we are reminded that the 2000 Bordeaux wine was the first perfect vintage for both banks in over a decade, since 1990. They were years which excelled in the Medoc, Pomerol, St. Emilion and Pessac Leognan too.

The winter was mild but warm, and the wet spring created potential problems with mildew. However, from July, a spectacular summer dominated with hardly any rain until mid-September when it rained. Sunny weather returned for the October harvest only broken by a single day of rain, helping the parched vines.

We were all in awe with "Oohs" and "Aahs" when SKT unveiled what would turn out to be a 2nd wine of a First Growth. How generous! Bottle 3 of 9 at Champignon, celebrating L's belated birthday with WMK/H, Eng/A, SKT/LMK, LMC and ourselves.

Classic is how I would describe this. It’s completely what I expected. Notes of earth, cigar tobacco, cedar and mint. Lovely palate, fully resolved tannins, velvety texture and medium body. In its drinking window but still some years ahead.

Quite the oddest thing I’ve had with aged Bordeaux happens with this bottle. My case has been well stored in a wine fridge for several years after being in a good moist cellar. The wine was decanted and left for 45 minutes. It’s delicious. Smooth classy and elegant. Very enjoyable and cruising along at a dinner. Then after another 45 mins and rapidly the wine crashed and lost all balance. Turned tannic and unpleasant. Never had such a rapid downturn before. Pop and pour!

Great too, but at this stage I preferred the ‘04. This one can keep going, if I had more bottles I’d hold another 3 years or so for the next one. Still young.
