Absolutely singing tonight. Loads of jammy fruit, but elegantly proportioned, not the least bit overdone, and good supporting tannins. Wasn't paying too much attention as took it for dinner at someone's house but it was just the business. Drink, or hold happily.

Much more of the Bordeaux varietals on the nose (40% of the blend is evenly divided between Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc). Cassis, tobacco, tomato leaf, and a hint of perceptible oak. The palate has more of the Tannat character, with powerful grip and a hint of iron that I usually associate with the varietal, punctuated by dark fruit and spice. This is quality wine for a good price, but lacks some typicité.

Still fruit driven. Both plum and and some red fruit. Leather, oak and pencil shavings . Rustic and mouldy cellar (but not corked). Still plenty of tannins. Decent complexity but lacks some concentration and harmony both on the nose and palate. Delivers very well for its price both now and the next 5 years.

The bottle has a 95 rating sticker on it but no source. I'd accept an 88 rating. Had it open for 60+ minutes with minimal change in taste.

Excellent QPR. $15 from costco. 60% Tannat, 20% CS, 20% CF

Red berries, slight peppercorn, limestone mineral structure. Nice complexity and depth. Will age easily for another 10y and should do well.

Agree largely with seeyouintee though I didn't get quite such a rich and varied palate. I wondered whether cab franc might be showing through. It feels like the product of a cooler year. There's lots of sinew and structure, but I wonder whether there is quite enough fruit to bring even a madiran notion of balance with age. Bring out the confit de canard!

Deep purple core, going red-clear at the rim. Smells mostly like Cabernet Sauvignon - Black cherry, clove, light aromas of leather, and a hint of herbs. Palate is a completely different beast - black tea, bay leaf, bell pepper, sage, and a touch of dried cherry. Chewy, mouth-coating tannins, and an herbal, somewhat bitter finish. I like it now, but I can easily see how it may not be everyone's cup of tea. Contrary to previous reviews, I'm pretty sure this will improve for at least a decade.

As others have noted this has excellent QPR given the red berry flavors and sturdy but not harsh tannin understructure. Some red fruit and slight herbal aromas and the wine improved with time in air. It was definitely tastier and more enjoyable after 48 hours open than at opening. Suggests a couple more years of bottle aging will enhance joy of consumption.

Massively tannic upon opening. I decanted and then let it sit for 24 hours. It softened nicely and became much more approachable. While it still needs time in the bottle to let it settle down, the 24 hour decant worked.

Deep red color, black fruits, plum, cherry, mixed with wood and smoke on the nose. Very tannic, medium acidity, good finish. Drink with food.

Difficult to discribe. Far too early to have opened, but great promise indicated. Decanted and left two hours; probably required eight.

Tense, strained, refined tannins. A dark scent of molasses and acidity evoked by mince tarts comes to mind; perhaps the floureryness of butterscotch biscuits.

Tight, terse, taunt acidity - all in balance.

Impatient. I'll leave the next bottle at least another five/six years. Lacking in expected depth at this age, although ably indicated.

Drinking well already.

Not giving much on the nose immediately after opening but the palate is full of dark, savoury fruit, moderate tannins and a sense of freshness that is partly down to the acidity and partly down to being bottled at below 14%ABV.

Compares well in terms of quality to a decent Cru Bourgeois Bordeaux. Very good value indeed. I'll be happy to drink the rest of the six pack over the next 5+ years.

The tannat must have softened up here. This is drinking quite well. Has an almost young mourvedre-like note, softened but still very present tannic structure, and a nice backbone bringing this wine out nicely as a hybrid between Southern France and bordeaux. Very enjoyable especially at the price, though I believe it was not so much a couple of years ago. Drink now + up to 3-4 years, though I am unsure whether it will improve during that span simply due to my inexperience with this type of blend.

I had half.

Medium ruby.
Medium black fruit, liquorice & marcipan in nose & mouth, developing.
Dry, medium acidity, medium(+) tannin, medium alcohol, medium body, medium(+) finish.
Very good, can drink now but potential for short term aging.
Structure not unlike a good Haut-Medôc, although no pencil scrapings in the nose/mouth.
Quite accessable, elegant and balanced, would make me expect a mediocre year.
Tertiary notes only starting to develop, but I would not keep this waiting too long as I don´t find the structure sufficiently robust.
Day 2: Fading - confirming yesterday's conclusion.

Not as powerful or structured as the 2017. Prominent cassis and cherry notes with dark chocolate, stewed tomato, and a shagreen of tannins anchoring the acid on the back end. There is a slight odiferous funk to it as well.

Day 2
Much better. The stewed tomato and funk have diminished to a friendly vegetal nod, the tannins have become a finer, longer leather glove, and the cherry/cassis has attained a lovely depth, dominant on the fore, then intermingling with the chocolate aftward. 3 points added.

Still full of freshness and can easaly be kept in the cellar for several years. It was a perfect companion to deer beef with juniper.
