4/18/2024 - JidR Likes this wine: 93 pointsA very nice wine with a solid future still to go. Took to a resort and had them decant 3 hours before dinner(assuming they did that). Wine was showing well, still youthful. Intense aromas and flavors with lots of black and red fruit. I got lots of black cherry and black plum, dark raspberry, tobacco, and all spice. A bit of tertiary is starting to develop. Went well with pork chop and some meat balls. I think another 5+ years will add a lot of development to this. |

3/22/2024 - ankitmehra Likes this wine: 93 points1988 Bordeaux Horizontal (Hawksmoor NYC): The first bottle of our 1988 Bordeaux horizontal and this was perhaps the bottle I was most excited about on the night. After letting this slow oxidise for an hour or so, I could tell that this wine was in pristine condition upon seeing its medium ruby colour when being poured. The nose was captivating, boasting a lot of the traits I love and associate with Pessac-Léognan: smoke, cedar wood, tobacco, vanilla and a hint of blackberries. The palate was beginning to enter its tertiary phase, but was still packed with youth as leather and blackcurrant medlied in the upfront prior to red cherries, some meatiness and vanilla dominating the mid-palate. Licorice arose as a prominent note across a long, powerful finish. As a whole, this wine is just entering the prime of its life and can age for much longer. No rush. |

4/10/2024 - jmoon Likes this wine: 95 pointsCompletely delicious from first pour evolved slightly over an hour or so but didn’t change much. Didn’t seem to need decant but certainly wouldn’t hurt taste it first. Lovely plush dark deep fruit probably at peak now. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

Guess I was expecting more. I prefer the 2003 Pape Clement over this Graves. Perhaps I just don't "get" '82 Bordeaux, or I expect too much |

3/30/2024 - RobinTeo wrote: 93 pointsThe one with Old Bordeaux (Praelum): Classic expression of the vintage. This struck me with so much power and rusticity that this had to be the 95 vs 96 flight and this was definitely a 1995. Signature graves and earth bouquet with a spearmint and morello cherry nose. Palate is still youthful and opulent with a dense core of fruit and minerality - surely this can only get better! |

3/30/2024 - RobinTeo wrote: 98 pointsThe one with Old Bordeaux (Praelum): Generously shared by a friend and what a treat this was! Admitedly, there were doubts around the table when this was announced and poured but we could not have been more surprised by the sheer longevity and structure of this wine! Cigar, dead leaves, smoke, leather and soy first hits you on the bouquet in a fashion that gives cause for concern that you might fall sick after drinking this wine but a second whiff 2 mins later and all that concern disappears when cassis, blackberries, macerated plums and violets emerge with such purity and vibrancy. This opens up on the palate with violets, cigars, cherries and soil with a dense yet elegant mid palate texture. Palate is perfectly balanced with plenty of fruit, with a hint of tannins and acidity - surely a legendary wine and perhaps one of the greatest bordeaux I've tried. |

4/2/2024 - Jeff Leve wrote: 98 pointsIf you are a fan of La Mission Haut Brion, with some extra money burning a hole in your pocket, this is the wine to buy. It has all the power, layers of perfectly ripe, earthy, smoky, leafy, tobacco covered fruits, balanced, poised and graceful, with the ability to age and evolve for decades. Drink from 2024-2050. |

4/1/2024 - Vinnut Likes this wine: 94 pointsSubsequent notes on this wine from about 2 years ago. Dark garnet in color with slight clearing at the edges. Full, forward & attractive nose of mature & fully developed, ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries, & cassis with classic cigar box overtones of tobacco & cedar, floral notes of violets, earthy/dusty, leather, gravel, rust/iron, herbs, spices, minerals & a hint of sous-bois in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, mature, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums with earthy/dusty, cocoa/coffee, herbs, minerals & a hint of oak. Lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present & at 41 years of age it appears to be at its peak of development. I wouldn't expect any further development from additional aging. Fill at bottom of neck right below capsule; cork was stained all the way but intact. This particular bottle showed better than the one from two years ago. I have been impressed by the showings of older La Mission Haut Brions from unheralded vintages. |

3/18/2024 - RockinCabs wrote: 94 pointsNose: Deep black fruit, cassis and amazing signature cigar tobacco on the nose. Perfume of leather, florals, stone and hot brick coming through. Such a Pessac nose as this opens. Palate: Focused dark fruit that quickly gives way to leather, old library, cedar and some faded red berry notes. Touch of VA here in the balsamic note, but it is not distracting. Finish: Closed a bit rough and ready with the age showing clearly in the tart black fruit and green tobacco notes. |

3/8/2024 - Latache01 Likes this wine: 95 pointsThe wine was still too young in 2024. The very dense texture of the wine is characterised by fine cassis, berries, nougat and cherries as well as fully ripe peppers. The long and complex finish is pleasantly fresh with present but very fine tannins. Probably at its peak in 10-15 years. |
