1/17/2024 - djhammond Likes this wine: 94 pointsThis is remarkable for a wine entering its 65th year, and still robust with no signs of over age. Admittedly, it is not one of the trophy wines, but it really delivers, and unbelievably, still needs an hour in the decanter to blow off some of the rough edges. The nose is its best feature and is deeply aromatic with plum, cherry, chocolate, and old leather. With sufficient air the palate calms down and delivers great balance and depth. It does not have the silky mouthfeel of the greatest aged Bordeaux, with the tannin a little intrusive end palate and on the finish. That said, it is a privilege to drink a wine this old, and still so approachable. |

Unlike anything in the food industry. Fresh wine unlike tonight's lineup. This wine is loaded with heat and is indicative of a well produced wine. Way too young right now. Chocolate, Licorice, and bay leaf characterize my notes. I was told 70 % merlot. |
