At first a honey tone, then a mix of nuts and camphor wood kicks in to make an impression an oloroso sherry. There is still a freshness here. Full bodied attack, almost a sweet tone at first in the vein of honey. On the mid palate the wine tightens up, and nutty sherry tones take over. The finish is fresh, and lifted by some citrus tones, while the aftertaste is nutty and marked by some dry wood and camphor. Long. This is clearly a good wine that has aged gracefully into what is probably what you can expect from an aged Alsace white wine. But now it is too old. For those interested in antiquities. |

There's peach, honey, beeswax combined with a semi-sweet, somewhat artificial sweetness. I recognized this as an Alsatian PG, tho not one of grand cru quality. I would guess this wine will improve with bottle age; the more, the better. |

Deep, fruity aromas of peach, red/yellow apples, lime, and a clear tone of petroleum (although quite reserved). Full bodied, sweet attack on the palate, sweet apple and peach with lime and citrus dominates an almost sweet wine. The acidity kicks in at the end, giving a refreshing, citrusy aftertaste with tones of chalk and petroleum. This has aged incredibly well, and is far better than what I remembered from last bottle. Drink or keep for at least five more years. |

The fullness and slight hint of sweetness accompagnies all types of cheeses (creamy ones like Brie, as well as hard ones like Comte) almost perfectly. This one has gained fine aging colour, almost golden yellow. Intense nose of sweet exotic fruit (peach, pineapple, lichi) as well as that classic Riesling tone of petroleum. Full bodied with a clear sweetness. Tastes of peach, ripe pear and lichi, as well as a fine mineral tone. Although the main impression is sweet, the wine is not at all cloying. The aftertaste is clean, quite fresh, and of medium length. Fully evolved now, but will clearly keep for at least five years (I have to admit that my experience with aging Alsace Rieslings for a long time is limited, they are just to good to drink young). |
