Angelica Wine Club - Italian (Noi Restaurant, Petersham): smoked bacon fat surprisingly dominates the nose, little tomato leaf, touch of sweet spice, slightly pretty. And that translates to the palate, plentiful drying grip closes things down, fresh but with muted fruit.

"Pairs with Sadness" (Chicago, IL): Really, I don't get these wines at all. They're so inconsistent, and at the price they demand, a good bottle of Pepe probably runs around $1500. A miss for me here, it's just too oily and oxidized. A wine this young has no business looking as dark as it did. Kind of funky but not in the way I care for. Just kind of another weird, oxidative white wine. Miss me with that.

I did not realize that Trebbiano grape could lead to this beautiful wine. Dark yellow-orange color, rich mouth with apricot, orange, freshness combined with nice bitters. Round and long. Great wine.

Much more interesting than the 2007 I had a couple months ago. With this I can begin to understand the reputation. Very unsual nose strongly of Bosc pears and earth, pleasant resolved tannins but definitely a wine for food.

Rich ripe red cherry, creosote, spice and herb, cigar and firm dry tannins still gripping on the finish.
Cork was branded 2017 indicating this was likely recorked at the winery before release. Excellent wine with life in the tank.

Dusty rose petals, dried lifted herbs, and light red fruit on the nose. The bouquet clears my nose in a way that is hard to describe – the sensation is one of liveness, freshness. Red fruit coulis in the mouth quickly transitions to a complex, long, and somewhat evasive finish that has some spice and maybe a hint of orange peel. Less volatile acidity than older vintages of the same wine. Darker, more intense, than most older vintages I've tried. 24 hours later, and this thing is insane on the nose: a touch of VA actually lifts it all the way up to ultra fresh licorice. Delicious.

Women Who Wine & Their Arm Candy (Estelle, St. Paul, MN): Light-medium to medium gold color. Drank a glass over 45 minutes. There is a brightness here that is immediately inviting, with loads of ripe stone fruit, a savory element, apricot and stones with a round full body. Always a vibrant and enjoyable twist.

First EP Trebbiano so I don't know if it's supposed to be this way or if it's flawed. Grilled lemon, apricot, kitchen herbs, and apple cider vinegar nose. It feels a little natty, even has a little bit of spritz. Saline and quinine bitterness on the finish. Not quite what I was expecting.

decanted for a couple hours, inky extracted purple crushed fruit…SO plush and smooth for such a big wine, ala Petite Sirah, yet there is a tart cherry skin freshness that lifts the wine…gorgeous violet florals, tar reduction nuance, licorice…drinks well now, but better days to come.

Slight seepage, but clean on opening. Strong piney nose with some earth and red fruits.. Really strong acidity.

After some time, this opened up. The pine became more subtle mint, earthy notes, nuttiness, light red fruit, light tannic structure and solid acidty. Just a really elegant wine.

Deep, rich yellow, almost pilsner-like in color. Wet, soaked apricot with what I've come to think of as the signature Emidio Pepe liveness on the nose. Rich in the mouth and balanced with a not quite tangy acidity. A long, somewhat nutty finish.

Volatile acidity super clear upon opening. I know VA isn't supposed to disappear, but the perception of it falls off significantly two hours after decanting.

Forest floor on a wet spring morning with some VA. Animal skin and balanced but bright acidity in the mouth. An incredibly long, detailed, high toned and clean finish goes on and on. This is a crazy good wine if you like it, and probably just plain awful if you don't. I love it.

Very nice, lithe, and interesting. A bit of initial fizz, but quite serious. I'd drink it any day at half the price, but the QPR is way off. 13.5%
