12/15/2023 - Anna@WineCellar Likes this wine: 91 pointsGolden hue, medium intensity. Rather large bubbles. Developed, medium(+) intensity nose. Broad aromas with accentuated fudge, vanilla, red apples. On the palate dry, high acidity, medium(-) body. Prickly mousse. Flavours of red apples and fudge. Good length with a spicy finish. |

Palate is silky smooth, literally glides off the palate. Beautifully bright acidity that brings up the fruit to another level. Long, silky finish. One of the best Champagnes I've tried this year, stunning quality! |

I believe this was the Pinot Meunier cuvee with a tiny % of Pinot Noir blended in. No dosage. Enjoyed the texture/fruit mix, along with a lightly prickly edge. Mint, cran/raspberry. |

7/5/2023 - WetRock wrote: NRThere is a nice yeasty qualities that help elevate this beyond the austere expressions of many no dose wines. Raw white grape and not quite ripe apple expressions. This is a base 2019 bottling and it became quite instructive. People in the know have said there can be a marked greenness to the Champagnes from 2019. I let my first glass of this sit for a few minutes and got a green, slightly vegetal character on the nose quite clearly. It doesn't overwhelm the wine but if you take a sniff without swirling its unmistakable. The acidity is generous under a nice chalky character but the fruit expression just isn't generous enough to lift it over the negatives of the vintage. Interesting that they bolstered this with 6% Pinot Noir. I've liked this bottle in its extra brut form and have missed it in the SoCal market. I hope it makes a return behind better vintages. |

1/11/2023 - grapenomad wrote: 95 pointsHeart and soul of Boulard's work. The spine and acid are prevalent in ways that keep the frame from ever getting into doughy dadbod mode. Bubbles are focused and fine, with a balanced carriage of spritely yellow citrus and crushed rock flavors. Sophistication lives here. I’m a fan, though I’m almost afraid to try the 2014 for fear it’ll never reach stellar status of this vintage. |

Mousse is spot on, as is the sense of balance across the attack. No steely or harsh angry kid demeanor here. Chardonnay can sometimes be like battery acid when young. Not the case with this bottle. This is one of the "smoother" Chardies I've had in recent memory. Has years of life ahead and I would still suggest holding a few years, perhaps to ride into the apocalypse in 3025. |

Strudel hot out the oven with a sidecar of cream. Zero dosage, but not the type of Champagne that is interesting in a restrained and minimalist way. This is fully fruity and fully bready and suggestive of sweet without any actual sweet. Concentrated intense tart flavors of raspberry and cherry that go on and on. |

12/31/2022 - arvidpalmqvist wrote: NRI had 3 bottles of the 2012 vintage of this cuvée and enjoyed those very much, thus my expectations of this one was set quite high. I'm sorry to say it did not live up to my expectations. Probably a vintage issue. It was very fruity (i.e. it lacked other flavours and complexity) and it felt like the acidity was slightly too low, and/or it has seen too much malolactic fermentation resulting in a quite indistinctive and too round end result. Not a bad bottle at all, just it was not better than a BdN for 10-15€ lower the price. Was slightly better as a food wine than as a general appetizer, with the roundness and all. Deg 2020. |

12/27/2022 - grapenomad wrote: 85 pointsPale salmon in the glass with slight orange rims. The nose leans towards an oxidative style, but this also feels slightly tired - not just on the nose, but on the palate as well. The acidity is mellow, not contributing in anyway to the Champagne's structure. As a result, the fruit feels wilted and boring. Finish also falls short. This could've been great in the past, but now it's in a rapid decline. |

11/19/2022 - WetRock wrote: NRI immediately noticed more mature notes than I was expecting in the way of coffee, creme brulee, and nougat. Not advanced in quality but just aged in expression. The palate has a fresh feel with a lean finish. Being sans dosage that isn't surprising. Lemon and citrus pith along with those notes of roasted sweets. In looking at the label this was disgorged back in 02/14 to my surprise. So that at least partially explains the more mature notes. I don't know that there is a consensus about aging zero dose Champagne in comparison to more traditional wines from the region. I'm personally skeptical and want to chalk up this expressing more mature than I would normally expect to that. I cannot make that claim with any authority though. |

With aeration there came a hint of cocoa in the midtaste and the aftertaste grew. There is room for developmentment for this very pure wine that shows very young. |
