Nice champagne but nothing more. Nice texture good balance. But lacking in complexity. Nice finish. Really nice finish, best part.

Drank half the bottle, had it the next day in hopes it would improve, it didn't. Leads me to think it won't improve.

Decent value all in. Would make a great party champagne as super easy to drink. Reminded me a bit of NV Bereche. There is simpleness to these wines but in no way close to a wow factor. Can't expect it as is a good QPR. Good to bring to party of not so to medium educated wine folk. Happy to have a glass as went down with ease.

Scant fruit moves directly into a nutty, brioche-heavy core with a good finish on acidity. Nice mouthfeel. One for those who like a mid-palate-driven champagne.

Golden hue, medium intensity. Rather large bubbles. Developed, medium(+) intensity nose. Broad aromas with accentuated fudge, vanilla, red apples. On the palate dry, high acidity, medium(-) body. Prickly mousse. Flavours of red apples and fudge. Good length with a spicy finish.
Day 2: Added brioche, more of the red apples. Depth and complexity. Mouthfilling, high fine rounded acidity. Less effervescence. Very good length finishing with butterscotch.

100% Meunier. Certified organic. Fermented in oak, malo made. Dos 0 g/l. Deg 19 March 2019. Lot Mg 03/19.

I remember having already drunk this wine about 10 years ago, 2012 to be precise. I can still see Francis talking to me about his 1996 and 1997 comets! He was very proud of it.

Nose of toasted almonds, smoke and coffee.

Evolved palate with a still lively and fresh touch, with roasted aromas, lychee, candied pear and grilled almonds. The effervescence is still there to bring the wine to life, like the chiselled acidity. Beautiful juice which has, in all objectivity, passed its peak but the pleasure of seeing a beautiful champagne evolved remains intact. Nice coffee finish with a good length.

Very good, but it's time to drink it. Francis can be proud of his creations! For a brut nature, it kept the distance.

Pours moderate lemon in the glass, consistent bubbles. Nose is complex, open - notes of ripe peach/nectarine, all kinds of citrus fruit, brioche, nougat. Palate is silky smooth, literally glides off the palate. Beautifully bright acidity that brings up the fruit to another level. Long, silky finish. One of the best Champagnes I've tried this year, stunning quality!

Florals on a pillowy nose. Harder and more stony on the palate. Chalky and fresh with notes of peach and herbs. This still gets a nice focused expression of Pinot Meunier you don't see often but I thought it was better served when they made it as an extra brut.

Blind Champagne Tasting--Bring A Bottle That Teaches Us Something: I'm calling this NV for purposes of my note as there is 20% reserve wine here, although the base is 2019. I believe this was the Pinot Meunier cuvee with a tiny % of Pinot Noir blended in. No dosage. Enjoyed the texture/fruit mix, along with a lightly prickly edge. Mint, cran/raspberry.

Beautiful orange color that turns into an evolved Bordeaux.

Nose on autolysis, assumed vinosity, oxidative touch.

Burgundian-style palate but rather Pommard. There is a somewhat gruff teddy bear side to anyone who knew Francis Boulard. The juice smacks in the mouth before wisely untying on complex aromas such as strawberry, smoke, sweet spices, cocoa and espresso. The juice has a dry side but which integrates well with the whole. Nice balance, the wine is far from tired. I clearly prefer it to the 2009 drunk a few years ago and which disappointed me. Nice finish on the mocha and a winey length that stretches quietly.

Excellent and surprising bleeding rosé

Bottle bought at the estate, and I bought some at auction recently for 60€, something to note since we complain enough about inflation on beautiful bottles.

Delicious nose, we keep coming back to it, it starts with autolysis, a hint of fine oxidation, a hint of wood, mature citrus notes and finally a hint of butter.

In the mouth, it is the creamy attack that first fills the palate. Very nice integrated acidity that stretches a dense juice with buttery notes from the pastry shop. The 2008s are beginning to offer great complexity, especially the extra brut with a magnificent chalky second part, all in salinity. Delicious finish, on toasted nuts, with a nice length that reminds me of orange peels.

It is a great champagne.

There is a nice yeasty qualities that help elevate this beyond the austere expressions of many no dose wines. Raw white grape and not quite ripe apple expressions. This is a base 2019 bottling and it became quite instructive. People in the know have said there can be a marked greenness to the Champagnes from 2019. I let my first glass of this sit for a few minutes and got a green, slightly vegetal character on the nose quite clearly. It doesn't overwhelm the wine but if you take a sniff without swirling its unmistakable. The acidity is generous under a nice chalky character but the fruit expression just isn't generous enough to lift it over the negatives of the vintage. Interesting that they bolstered this with 6% Pinot Noir. I've liked this bottle in its extra brut form and have missed it in the SoCal market. I hope it makes a return behind better vintages.

Nose of pastry cream and rancio, with a cheese crust side. It's very special.

The bubble remains lively and the robe remains pale.

On the other hand, the mouth is rich and superbly lively. It is still very lively, barely evolved and devoid of oxidation. I guess the solera with the few tertiary notes in the mouth with the undergrowth and the mushrooms. It remains diffuse and the trailing chardonnay counterbalances everything with a nice freshness. Excellent balance. Beautiful intense finish all in vinosity. It just lacks a zest of extra length to move up a gear.

It is a very good champagne, just that the nose bothered me a bit.

Heart and soul of Boulard's work. The spine and acid are prevalent in ways that keep the frame from ever getting into doughy dadbod mode. Bubbles are focused and fine, with a balanced carriage of spritely yellow citrus and crushed rock flavors. Sophistication lives here. I’m a fan, though I’m almost afraid to try the 2014 for fear it’ll never reach stellar status of this vintage.

Clay and golden raisin notes are complemented by grilled lemon, olive oil, ripe yellow pear and almonds. Mousse is spot on, as is the sense of balance across the attack. No steely or harsh angry kid demeanor here. Chardonnay can sometimes be like battery acid when young. Not the case with this bottle. This is one of the "smoother" Chardies I've had in recent memory. Has years of life ahead and I would still suggest holding a few years, perhaps to ride into the apocalypse in 3025.

Pinot Meuinier/Pinot Noir (94%/6%). Entry level from Boulard. ENTRY LEVEL FOR THIS QUALITY. Unreal. Whiff of fresh cherry pastry. Strudel hot out the oven with a sidecar of cream. Zero dosage, but not the type of Champagne that is interesting in a restrained and minimalist way. This is fully fruity and fully bready and suggestive of sweet without any actual sweet. Concentrated intense tart flavors of raspberry and cherry that go on and on.

I had 3 bottles of the 2012 vintage of this cuvée and enjoyed those very much, thus my expectations of this one was set quite high. I'm sorry to say it did not live up to my expectations. Probably a vintage issue. It was very fruity (i.e. it lacked other flavours and complexity) and it felt like the acidity was slightly too low, and/or it has seen too much malolactic fermentation resulting in a quite indistinctive and too round end result. Not a bad bottle at all, just it was not better than a BdN for 10-15€ lower the price. Was slightly better as a food wine than as a general appetizer, with the roundness and all. Deg 2020.

Pale salmon in the glass with slight orange rims. The nose leans towards an oxidative style, but this also feels slightly tired - not just on the nose, but on the palate as well. The acidity is mellow, not contributing in anyway to the Champagne's structure. As a result, the fruit feels wilted and boring. Finish also falls short. This could've been great in the past, but now it's in a rapid decline.

I immediately noticed more mature notes than I was expecting in the way of coffee, creme brulee, and nougat. Not advanced in quality but just aged in expression. The palate has a fresh feel with a lean finish. Being sans dosage that isn't surprising. Lemon and citrus pith along with those notes of roasted sweets. In looking at the label this was disgorged back in 02/14 to my surprise. So that at least partially explains the more mature notes. I don't know that there is a consensus about aging zero dose Champagne in comparison to more traditional wines from the region. I'm personally skeptical and want to chalk up this expressing more mature than I would normally expect to that. I cannot make that claim with any authority though.
But hey, I like mature Champagne so this all works for me. Some dosage to pick up the body and richness might really make this sings for me personally but that's picking nits a bit. Delish.

My friends Loek & Saskia married three years; a lovely dinner at Zoldering Amsterdam: A slightly sweet impression in the start, followed by some harsh acidity and that disturbs a bit the balance (at the moment). With aeration there came a hint of cocoa in the midtaste and the aftertaste grew. There is room for developmentment for this very pure wine that shows very young.
