Thin tannins on the finish, with tons of baking spice, wild strawberry, more cranberry, and hints of Cointreau. Quite a complex win that's hard to pin down - different flavors would pop up with each sip. |

4/20/2024 - lozatron Likes this wine: NR"Running" Club Oregon vs the World - Chardonnay & Pinot Noir (Al fresco in leafy West London): First sip was really engaging but - perhaps because i so rarely drink New World pinots, it's charms quickly faded for me. Some raspberry fruit there, a bit of jamminess, the oak bite is apparent, not clumsy in any way but the kind of thing that you have to be there for, and I wasn't there for it. Interestingly this was the most divisive wine at the table, being one person's clear favourite and others least liked. |

But with some time in glass, a deeper profile came through, with spice and dark cherry notes. A slightly bitter finish, which lends an attractive complexity to the wine. Medium plus tannins would benefit with some time to soften over the next year or so. As this remains open, it’s really showing off some class! Sweet hints of oak are now showing on the long finish. This should improve over the next 4+ years. |
