3/14/2024 - mouton45 Likes this wine: 92 pointsDrank with patio-grilled Argentinian sweetbreads and tender pork Matambre de Serdo. Jessie, Cathy and I preferred th Ladera Lone Canyon because after drinking only the Catena Malbec the day before, this was a different producer, a different varietal/flavor profile and a bit older. However, both were excellent wines still drinking well past their drinking-up date stage. |

12/23/2023 - pvewino Likes this wine: 94 pointsCertainly improving with age. Drank over a few hours and continued to develop during that period of time. Dark and full-bodied. Medium to long finish with dark fruits on the palette. Drink now or continue to hold for several more years. |

12/21/2023 - kmicho Likes this wine: 91 pointsDrank this a month ago and thought it was past its prime. This was our only other bottle and wow. It’s a lot better. Must be a difference between bottles. This is a moderately heavy cab, but not jammy at all. Very clean. Strong tobacco leaves, some green pepper, a bit herbaceous, slightly tannic fruits, oak. Really a very nicely balanced wine. Had with prime rib. Awesome. |

12/11/2023 - markcic Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis wine has really aged well. Drinking beautifully at 20 years old. Dark fruit on the nose with a hint of mocha. The palate was dark berries, plums, fig, tobacco and sandalwood. The finish was long. Really enjoyable served with steak and brisket. |

6/29/2019 - Mossrose wrote: 94 pointsOne of the few wines from Howell Mountain that I was able to purchase for $40 a bottle, and a superb example of why Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignons command and get premium prices. A powerful full bodied wine highly structured by firm tannin and vivid acidity. Dark, dense, and concentrated fruits of black currants, blackberry, and black cherry. Beautifully ageworthy and readily improves for decades. At 13 years old, more integrated, smooth, seamless, and layered. |

12/10/2023 - Vinnut Likes this wine: 91 pointsDeep, dark reddish-purple in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & some floral notes, herbs, spices, minerals & oak/vanilla notes in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of smooth textured & well balanced, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing & should develop further with additional aging. |

11/19/2023 - kmicho Likes this wine: 85 pointsAgreed with Kevrob822 review from Sept of last year. This has gone flat. The fruit is mostly gone. My wife got some plum, I got virtually none. I got a lot of wet stone, granite, maybe lead. It’s very mineral. But not a ton more. I think it would have been better 4 years ago, which should have been young for this wine, but it hasn’t aged as well as hoped. I’ll drink my other bottle right away. |

10/28/2023 - BlackstoneCellars Likes this wine: 95 pointsAppearance is deep purple in colour. On the nose, pronounced intensity with cooked blackberry, black cherry, blueberry and notes of vanilla, graphite, and cola. On the palette it is dry with high acid, high tannin, medium alcohol and full bodied with pronounced aforementioned flavours and a long finish. This wine was outstanding due to its perfect balance, long finish, pronounced intensity, and high complexity! Drinking excellent now but still has enough fruit, acid, and tannin to cellar for longer. Perhaps our favourite drink of 2023! |
