Medium plus body. Medium gold color. Petrol and apple and lemon on nose. More of same fruit on palate with moderate acidity and residual sugar. Fairly long finish. Pretty well-balanced but straightforward

Exotic scents of pineapple dominate the nose, followed by apple and lemon zest. The plump and sweet aromatic style introduce a similarly characterised palate, with plenty of round fruit. The wine is pleasant, although it does mostly feel overpowered by its aromatic sweetness and RS levels.

Nose not as good as Kees Kieren. However the palate improved significantly in the glass after some time, so this wine ends up being even more attractive than Kees Kieren, which I gave 95 without +. Outstanding.

Intense, youthful neon-green color. Dry, somewhat closed and quite mineral nose with aromas of some chalk dust, a little bit of stony minerality, light reductive smoky notes, a hint of slatey minerality and a pungent, somewhat gassy touch of sulfites. The wine is ripe, broad and oily on the palate with a slightest touch of CO2 prickle and gentle flavors of honey, some apple jam, a little bit of lemon marmalade, light gassy notes, a hint of tart green apple and a touch of wet stones. Overall the wine feels somewhat mellow and a little bit underwhelming. The moderately high acidity keeps the wine balanced, but makes it lack a bit energy and sense of structure. The finish is round, mellow and medium in length with flavors of pear, some white peach, a little bit of ripe citrus fruits, light golden apple tones, a hint of stony minerality and a touch of chalky bitterness.

A nice, young and easy GG Riesling. In an extensive tasting of young (2013-2017) Bernkasteler Ring GG wines, this one felt like a Chablis in a Montrachet tasting: basically all the other wines are screaming at the top of their lungs, while this one is singing quietly. There's definitely some charm to this wine, but it is lacking intensity and interest at the moment - perhaps there's just a wee bit too much sulfites in the wine at the moment (making it somewhat mute and lending a slightly distracting, gassy note to both the nose and the taste) and the wine will perform better once it has aged those characteristics out? It might take another 10 years or more. Perhaps a bit pricey for the style for now at 18,90€, but might turn better with age.

Very intense, youthful neon lime-green color. Very exuberant, heady nose with perfumed - almost Gewürztraminer-like - aromas of musky flowers, sweet grapey fruit, some lychee, a little bit of honey, light notes of quince, a hint of lavender-scented hand soap and a touch of citrus zest. The wine is broad, full-bodied and rather oily with concentrated, medium-sweet and quite exotic flavors of pineapple, peach, some honeydew melon, a little bit of exotic spices, light pear tones and a hint of wild, musky flowers. The wine feels very ripe and quite weighty for a Mosel Kabinett, but the moderately high acidity lends good sense of balance and structure to the wine. The finish is drier compared to the midpalate with bold, concentrated flavors of apple peel bitterness, some tart green apples, a little bit of lemony citrus fruits, light grapey tones, a hint of ripe apricot and a touch of exotic floral spices. The high acidity lends a lengthy, sharp and refreshing note to the aftertaste.

A very bold, concentrated and heady Mosel Riesling Kabinett from the ripe and powerful end of the spectrum. Despite its sense of weight, the wine isn't a hulking blockbuster - although the wine really could use some higher acidity, since the wine came across as quite heavy among the other Kabinetts. Many people also wondered whether there is a dash of Gewürztraminer in the blend, lending that very floral and exotic feel to the wine. A very ripe and unctuous Kabinett for those occasions that call both some sweetness and power. Impressive with its youthful exuberance, but I can imagine the wine will develop for a good deal of years more. The wine scored a total of 10 points from the 12 judges (overall 22nd place out of 46 wines).

Oh dear, another wine where MFW and my impression differ significantly 😊 Nose has some volatile acidity and is not 100% clean. On the palate this wine has a killer acidity! 21gr of acidity. Green and very unbalanced. Will this ever integrate? Yes, it is very concentrated and long, but this acidity really knocks you out. It looks like MFW had tasted a completely different wine… 88

Light yellow-green color. Lemon, lime, and strong stone minerality on the nose. The tasting notes are the same with mild, distracting effervescence. Tastes like slightly sour limeade.
