White Blend more

We caught this white Spanish blend entering its sixth year off the vine. It seems the bottle age has been friendly to the experience. The color is about as golden as a white wine gets. There is still plenty of acid snap on the lips upon entry. It has some real body, character and plenty of viscosity. Some maturing peach and honey, then some more savory fruit like clementine and scuppernong. Really intense from nose to finish.

Terroir al Límit is one of Spain’s most exciting wineries of the new generation! Holding a wonderful balance between the freedom of the natural wine movement and the gravity of the classical Burgundian approach to terroir, the domaine was created by Dominik Huber, a German, and Eden Sadie of South Africa. The pair
met working at Mas Martinet in Priorat and became fast friends. They began with purchased grapes in 2001 and slowly purchased a convincing little holding of vineyards. All of the farming at the domaine is done organically and biodynamically. The vineyard work is accomplished manually. All of the terroirs are delineated into crus that Dominik Huber created himself. They focus on indigenous grapes. The spirit of the wines arises from the Mediterranean and its ancient cuisine. The wines are made to pair with dishes of pure and authentic ingredients, and so they must be transparent and lithe. Never overly extracted, they are vinified in concrete and neutral foudres so as to keep the grapes as uninfluenced as possible and infusion is preferred in place of extraction to maintain that lightness and elegance. The wines are made to be
drunk with friends. They’re lovely and fun and friendly in the ways that remind you how important fun andfriendliness is. These wines are national exclusives
to Yes Collective and a special chance to try one of the most exciting young producers in the world!

One of Terroir al Limit’s two self-appointed grand crus, this vineyard of garnacha sits 800 meters up the slopes of the Montsant mountains above a monastery of ancient, arching stone. The vineyard is a chalky clay that keeps moisture even through Priorat’s hot, dry summers. And the vines are 60-year-old garnacha peluda which literally translates as “hairy grenache.” The vines leaves have fine down that conserves
moisture by casting tiny shadows on the leaves. The grapes are hand harvested and fermented with whole cluster, then aged for 8-months in cement. This is one
of the world’s most convincing homages to Rayas—garnacha of beguiling aromatic clarity. An utterly gorgeous flow of shining red berries and tea and the dry mediterranean wind blowing up through lavender and underbrush. A smoldering stoniness suspends the mountain herbs and berries like perfect tiny jewels.

SERVICE NOTES

The wines are made to be drunk with friends. They’re lovely and fun and friendly in the ways that remind you how seriously important fun and friendliness is.

Defying the winemaking conventions of the time, Dominik Huber set to rehabilitate the carignan vines from 1910 in L’Arbossar, a vineyard of llicorella at 400 meters. Llicorella is one of the defining characteristics of Priorat—a soil composed of red slate, mica, and clay. It generates wines of tremendous precision suspended in structuring minerality. Carignan was long thought to be a grape only capable of producing wines of rusticity, but winemakers have realized that, when carignan grapes come from very old vines, they become floral and delicate. The vinification of Arbossar is whole cluster in cement with 8 months of aging before bottling. This wine is all fresh turned earth and sun-soaked red cherries, chalkiness robed in a glimmering of mint and juniper.

These wines are national exclusives to Yes Society, and a special chance to try one of the most exciting young producers in the world.

SERVICE NOTES
A serious wine here. Don't be fooled by the delicate color. A decanting is highly recommended. Every sip gets better. A sure sign that it will do well in the cellar for a decade or more.

This poured a deep gold color. The nose is is aromatic and nuanced with balanced and layered tones of nectarines, quince, apricots, Golden Grahams, red apples, toast, spiced pears, and some yellow flowers. The Full bodied feel is textured and layered with crisp, medium+ acidity that leans into a lengthy finish. This was deliciously unique. I don't think I've had a Terroir Al Limit Bianco before and had to jump at the chance.

Pikant, schwarzer Pfeffer, sehr, sehr gute Länge.

I liked this a lot on PnP, very elegant. It didn’t last more than a few days before developing some oxidation though. Either way, good structure, welcome level of tannin, since Grenache can often be a bit too soft for me.

Beautiful bottle gorgeous nose—bright aromatics and fine violety tertiary notes. Palate is resolving nicely, vibrant acidity and resolving tannins. Fine brush of black fruits in the palate. Bit of graphite soil tones on the finish. Fine expression of old vine Carignan.

What an intriguing wine. Ver soft and delicate with a good length on the mid palate. I would suggest this as pure elegance in the glass.

How will this age? I see this more as a mid term wine to be enjoyed from 2024-2035.

2024 Judgement of Wimbledon

This year we lined up 16 of the best examples of Grenache we could find. Tasters were a few friends, including Neal Martin, Greg Sherwood, Alastair, DF, and more.

This ranked #14/16 for me, and #16/16 overall.

Elegant, fresh, and fruit forward. Showing strong notes of dark herb and underbrush, almost something CndP like about it. Still has the mineral undertone, but just something slightly edge and dark.

2,688 bottles made.

Opened with some barn aromas, later dark fruits like blueberries and blackberries, herbs, flowers, spices, liquorice and forest floor. Light weighted and juicy on the palate, but intense and concentrated. Pronounced acidity, and less pronounced tannins.

To me a very interesting wine - some won't like this.

Pretty complex with ripe citrus and yellow fruit mixed with vegetable like aromas and an herbal touch. On the palate a strong sense of minerality and a beautiful finish. A wine that evolves in taste from start to finish in every sip, holding on to your interest and making you want to explore several glasses.

PNP. Cork perfect. Straight out of the shoot this was dusty and pretty tight. I passed it through a Venturi and voila. It opened up and showed its stuffing. Nose shows dark currants. And dark plums with a bit of dark spice blood and iron. swishing this shows stern skin and stem tannin and some acidity… like When you bite into a grape seed. Sipping is a whole other thing. The fruit comes forward and the structure takes on a subtle supporting role. Finish is balanced and med length. My note from last time was mistaken that this was in decline because I think this is just starting to hit its stride and what a stride it has. Can’t wait to try some of the higher end bottles with some age on them

Wine 4 and another Garnacha to adore and 💯 RP. More dark fruit, more power than the rumbo but not worst. Also more influence from oak than rumbo but with that more classic which lead to 8 guess preferring this over the Rumbo.

I actually had the Rumbo a hair ahead but it’s a question of taste. This reminded me of a Francia Barolo somehow.

Anyhow they were both brilliant with the Venison Carpaccio, pumpkin and mushrooms

BWW, day 1

the altitude LLedoner Pelut seems to have not liked the 21 cold vintage here, it is edgy ripe on the nose with vegetal hints of brambly spice, and pepper, leafy

Palate is vibrant and fresh, chalky and pity tannins, with again a very edgy fruit profile ! Still very good wine, but it's a bit light on the ripeness here !

Will certainly show in the long haul... or not :)

very tight and restrained wine, extremely long, and concentrated with insane freshness too

very closed compared to Arbossar the wine is extremely long and that is where you get the potential !

Dark berry nose, smoke, sooth, ashes and oyster shell, well defined but restrained

Again palate is quite powerful with long slaty aftertaste ! extremely dense and tart ! needs so much time !

Arbossar is way more approchable right now but this will hit some great spots in the future !

BWW day 1

This the most spectacular Arbossar ever tasted ! really fresh, lively, salty and complex ... that Carignan shows how well handled the variety can show !

Nose of ripe black berries, dark fruits, smoke, llicorella, squid ink ... no oak

Palate is long and refreshing with layers and complexity, it's long and refreshing as much as a salty tannins finish !

superb wine

Ruby red, pale rim. A bit hazy .upon opening the nose was totally absent, to my surprise. Poured it 30 mins before dinner and already in that time it opened up . Dark fruit , vanilla , RICH moutfeel, plum, licorice. Beautifully integrated tannins and acid. Surprisingly well balanced , especially when considering the high alcohol (15%) . Paired this with Angus entrecote , Caprece and red wine sjy
