6/15/2022 - dmodguy Likes this wine: 91 pointsI don’t know how the drinking window got set on this wine. I had two bottles left that got lost in the cellar and drank one last week after pulling it out to taste and see if I could make Sangria with it. Well, it didn’t go in to the Sangria. I opened the other bottle tonight and am drinking it now. I bought them on release and have stored them at 54 degrees. I’ll never know but I bet that it will go a couple of more years. |

3/6/2022 - dmodguy Likes this wine: 97 pointsI had this wine on Friday and Saturday night. Both nights I had it with 2 different wine experts (at least in my opinion and I’m no slouch. The first night was with a NY strip and the second night with a lamb shank. The wine was popped and poured the first night and kept me guessing for about 30 minutes but that was all. It is wonderful. Great fruit, integrated tannin and I don’t know if I should rate it higher or not. The first night my friend pronounced it as one of the top 5 red wines in NAPA. I shared that comment with my other friend on the second night and we suggested it might be one of the top 5 in the world. I questioned why he thought that and like my first friend he pointed out the price/quality factor. Just how much are you really willing to spend on a wine. |

2/6/2022 - dmodguy Likes this wine: 89 pointsDidn’t try it younger, but it is certainly worth drinking now. Very sweet and I’m betting that it will get along just fine with Flan. Probably survive with Foie Gras too. |

7/18/2021 - dmodguy Likes this wine: 95 pointsI’m a wine drinker, not a rater but this is still a great bottle. Bought on release. Stored right since then. Without food it had a little tanin mixed in the finish. When first opened with no decant it seemed to lack a little of the fruitiness that was in the previous bottles, but after 45 minutes that issue went away. And once I took my Australian Wagyu rib eye off the grill…wow. |

4/8/2021 - dmodguy Likes this wine: 92 pointsI bought mine on release. A case. Last bottle tonight with short ribs. It may not be as good as it was but it’s darn good. If I had another I’d drink it next year. If I knew a year or two ago what I know now I’d have drank it then. |

11/10/2019 - dmodguy Likes this wine: 91 pointsIt’s consistent with the last (barely there) notes. Fruit is there, tannins are down and has some acidity, maybe from age. I’ve got one more bottle and I think I need to drink it, but not before Christmas. |

10/12/2018 - dmodguy wrote: 81 pointsI got this on release. I didn’t pay a lot for it then but it was an OK wine. It is no longer hot and for a wine that’s supposed to be long gone I’d say it’s fruits have faded for sure. I have several bottles that I lost track of and opened this one to see if I was to give it away or throw it away. |

8/26/2018 - dmodguy Likes this wine: 92 pointsOh, what a disaster. Some of my cellar is getting some age on it. Too much age. To help reduce it I am making some of the over the hill but still Ok stuff into Sangria. This published drinking window was over in 2011. My cellar is a perfect 55 but 2011. I opened it, smelled it to determine it was OK, poured an ounce or two in a wine glass to see how bad it was and poured the rest into Sangria. Then I tasted the wine in the glass. Did I know I wasted some great wine?!?! I have a bottle left and it won't go into Sangria for sure. From what I could tell from the little I drank of it RUSTYRUDY'S notes are right on target. |

3/8/2018 - dmodguy wrote: 93 pointsI don’t know how they figured the drinking window. I’m saying 2020 is more likely. My bottle was bought fresh on release and stored right but it is not at the end of life. I didn’t decant and as said previously it was improved after being open an hour. I had it with lamb shank and that was a perfect match. |

12/27/2017 - dmodguy Likes this wine: 91 pointsI don’t know how good my rating number is. This wine has the tannins fully absorbed. It is a little past it’s prime but it is not something you wouldn’t drink by a long shot. |
