2/25/2021 - brooklynwine Does not like this wine: 80 pointsHaven't written a tasting note in a while but had to for this wine. It is not good. Purchased a case, received 8 bottles in one delivery, then cancelled the other 4 from Garagiste. Dumped 2 bottles, gave away 2, and have been suffering through the rest. (Made a beef stew with one bottle.) 3 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

2/21/2020 - brooklynwine wrote: 88 pointsDecent wine. Fresh and vibrant with cranberry and bright cherry. It would probably have been better to wait for the summer for this one. Medium bodied with a medium finish. Not bad but nothing spectacular. May purchase again for a summer red with BBQ chicken, other light meat, or grilled fish. |

2/8/2020 - brooklynwine wrote: 85 pointsDrank over 2 nights. Decent wine with fair aromatics. On the nose you get some apricot, lemon and flower notes. The palate brings in a little grapefruit and a hint of honey. Simple and straight forward. The palate loses it for me with |

2/5/2020 - brooklynwine wrote: 90 pointsGood find for $30. Quality California Cab (100% cab) from a producer that I personally associate with value wine. Nose: Rich, oak, cassis, cinnamon Palate: black and blue fruit, cigar box, tea leaves, and Turkish spice. Alc. gets a little spiky at 15.5% but overall in check. Tannins are a bit grainy on the finish. Will buy more for $30 but not for $60 like the winery is charging. |

2/5/2020 - brooklynwine Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis wine has mellowed a bit, but is still a big steak wine. Color is young without any edge variation. I feel like it can still last a good 5 to 10 but why wait. Palate of blue/ blackberry fruit, cocoa, and oak all in check with a nice finish. For a $25 purchase in 2014 this wine did not disappoint! Drink up. |

10/5/2018 - brooklynwine Likes this wine: 89 pointsFor a $20 Napa Chard this wine will make most people happy. Well balanced with decent acidity. Finish is persistent. It is a bit of a one trick pony, with vanilla, oak, and lemon curd but for what it is, it does it admirably. I would by this for $20 any day. At $25+ look somewhere else. |

5/7/2017 - brooklynwine wrote: 89 points88-89. Pnp. Predominent oak on the nose at first making me question my purchase but after it settled for an hour or so that faded a bit. Tropical palate with notes of vanilla and yes oak but not as weighty on the mouthfeel. Medium finish. I can see how some people would think it's too California in style. I don't think it's as sappy or overblown as many Cali Chardonnays. For me, I think it still needs a little time to integrate. It's good and at $19 - $20 a good price point. It's not over done and will probably mature into something better....at least I hope. |

5/2/2017 - brooklynwine wrote: 89 pointsGreat QPR. Cut grass, gooseberry, lively minerality, and nice acidity, this wine is always a go to for me. I've always gravitated to Kermit Lynch as his wines always have a sense of place and have charming finesse at good price points. Definitely a wine to seek out for a weekday sipper. |

4/20/2017 - brooklynwine wrote: 89 pointsShowing quite well right now. Black currant, purple fruit, cedar, and tobacco leaf. From the nose you expect a bit more but the palate doesn't deliver as well. It is a good wine and you definitely get a sense of place with this wine. It completely reminds me of sitting in a cafe in Portugal. That being said, it's not exceptional and leaves me missing that wine I had sitting in that damn cafe. |

4/7/2017 - brooklynwine wrote: 90 pointsVery nice. Drinking well right now. Smooth tannins, black currants, a little underbrush, and cocoa. This wine shows good restraint and finesse something that is sometimes lacking in California Cabs. Well done. 90+ |

3/25/2017 - brooklynwine wrote: 92 pointsOpened this bottle over the weekend and the first thing I thought was, "This must be what the color purple tastes like." Then I ready my previous note from 2016 and that's what I wrote last time. So it must be true. Really good, powerful wine. Definitely more integrated this time around. The alc. heat is no long there and the tannins have mellowed out. Only a couple bottles left. Gonna let them sit for a bit. Great find and highly recommended. |

12/5/2016 - brooklynwine wrote: 90 pointsDefinitely time to drink. This is just past its drinking window in my opinion. Decanted for 1 hour and it opened up nicely. Smooth and clean with medium+ body. Fully resolved tannin. Black and red current, a touch of oak and tobacco, with a little earthiness. It's a solid wine. Had with Beef Wellington which worked really well! |
