5/21/2015 - Houghton Hall Likes this wine: NRLast night with dinner, this wine was strong, direct and a bit austere as I often find Barbarescos to be. There was a bit left in the bottle and 24 hours later it's a completely different story, fruit forward, round and welcoming with just a bit of tannic edge, almost like a good merlot. Very nice wine either way. |

12/20/2014 - Houghton Hall Does not like this wine: NRGood perfume but somewhat thin on the palate, bright and acidic, low alcohol, not what I'm used to from the region. Got this from Garagiste where it was hawked as a classic style Bordeaux the way it was made in the '60s and '70s, not like the over extracted oaky modern wines. If so, methinks I like progress. |

From the Buzet region of Aquitaine, it seems a bit different from your average Bordeaux. Bright on the nose and on the tongue with fruit and forest, muted tannins at the end. Some maritime influence reminds me of being on a boat at night. |

At first a little thin on the tongue but over the course of a meal of grilled lamb, eggplant, onions and aioli it really came into its own with brightness and good tannic grip. |
