  • One might hope that all Cornas in this Century are of the Allemand, Voge, Clape variety, and many are. Purchased almost 10 years ago based upon the normally reliable Crush recommendation of new Northern Rhone entries, this should be better even given its age. A somewhat generic flavor overrides the slightly excessive acid, which could well be a need for more age or greater than 30 minutes of air time. The pretty darker medium blood red color and hint Syrah briary nose led to a smooth but less defined corps. Hold, but keep hope in check.

  • Opened at Lucali in Brooklyn to pair with pizza. Very tight and closed on first night, even with 10 years of age on it. Acid and tannin were a little overpowering for the pizza.

Second night, was much more generous and lush. Very much enjoyed the second half of the bottle.

Plenty of years left on this, but if opening soon, best decant.

  • Not a sipping wine, give it some time, some air and some hearty food. Beautiful aromatics, cedar, pine and herbs. At first a little thin on the tongue but over the course of a meal of grilled lamb, eggplant, onions and aioli it really came into its own with brightness and good tannic grip.

  • By the glass. This could have come from anywhere. Dark fruits, silky tannins, moderate acidity. Well made wine, but I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. Solid B. It would be OK at $25, but I wouldn't pay the average asking price for this.
