6/26/2021 - concorde Likes this wine: 92 pointsOpened and poured. Beautiful nose that shows its age, with coffee, cloves, leather, licorice. Comes together on the front of the palate, a bit more fruit showing, and a length that, while not powerful, lasts a good couple of minutes. |

11/8/2016 - concorde wrote: 84 pointsA vibrant wine that has high expectations, but ends up falling just short. A worldly palate with a feminine touch, this wants to excite me, and I was totally into it as I pulled the cork. As I tasted it, I realized that it wasn't going to bring me where I wanted to go. The structure is there, as is the solid winemaking. This would have been a spectacular wine had it been allowed to show its true potential. Unfortunately it was cut short by a bitterness and a desire to go back to the old days before femininity was allow to display its greatness. I will continue to enjoy the wine, even though I know that this is the last hurrah of this bottle. It did well for the effort, unfortunately expectations were set entirely too high. |

11/29/2015 - concorde Likes this wine: 95 pointsStunning, fully mature Meursault. Deep gold color. Powerful on the nose, with lemon peel, vanilla, baking spices, cinnamon, beach sand, and wet stones. Medium high acidity, with lots of minerality. Medium to long finish. Spectacular. |

9/19/2014 - concorde Likes this wine: 94 pointsBeautiful garnet color. The nose is simply spectacular, blueberry, asian spices, wet leaves, lavender, black cherry. Medium intensity on the palate, with medium length. After drinking a lot of cru bourgeois lately, the complexity in this wine really shines. |

7/8/2014 - concorde Likes this wine: 90 pointsBeautiful deep ruby-red color, cassis, Margaux smoke, leather, integrated tannins, complexity on the nose but still somewhat muted, doesn't quite follow through on the palate. Some secondary characteristics, short to medium length, medium acidity, a pleasure to drink but not entirely memorable. |

6/13/2010 - concorde wrote: 100 pointsIs it possible to completely upstage a 62 Margaux? How do you define perfection? This wine had everything, when you smell it, you are transported to a field with the most beautiful smell of jasmine and other flowers. I can smell this all night (and actually, I did, as I kept it for the rest of the evening). On the palate, the wine just takes over and gives your tongue a complete massage, so that afterwards all you can think is "did I really just experience that?". I cannot say enough about this wine, it is perfect. My WOTN, and the WOTN for the person sitting next to me. This is ranked in my top five wines of all time. |

3/29/2009 - concorde wrote: 92 pointsPopped and poured, cork broke but was in reasonably good shape otehrwise. Sourced in Paris with provenance direct from the Chateau (according to the shop), fill was into the neck. Gorgeous brick red color, only slightly lightened around the edges. Nose of mineral, wet stones, tobacco, leathery, with slight vegetal notes. The wine is remarkably fresh, I would never guess it is over 40 years old. Still tannic and structured, this definitely surpasses the 61 and seems bolder than the 66. On the palate, it has a base of what I can only described as black tar, followed by layers of saddle leather, blackberry and perhaps a touch of licorice. A smooth 30 second finish completes what is a lovely wine. I'm sold, Lascombes made some wines in the 60's that have definitely held the test of time. This can last at least another decade and perhaps longer. |

1/31/2009 - concorde wrote: 90 pointsDecanted around 6 hours. Beautiful deep purple color. Extremely tight and closed down. Hints of sweet cherries, blueberries, with a touch of leather on the nose. Concentrated and tannic, with more berries, tobacco and lavender, and a bit of smokiness. More concentrated on the top and sides of the tongue. 45 second length. Overall pleasureable but waaaaay too young to really judge. I wish I had saved some for the next few days to see how it continues to develop. This will be a beautiful wine in about 10-15 years. |

4/11/2006 - concorde wrote: 84 pointsWasn't a big fan, but the thing that amazed me was taht I left a half-full glass on the counter, and the room ended up smelling of tobacco. It was completely strange, at first I thought someone had left some type of tobacco product in the house, but i isolated the smell to that glass. It was both impressive and annoying at the same time, as it wasn't a particularly pleasant smell. I do wonder why I purchased a bunch of bottles of this, except that I've liked some of the MP wines in the past. I definitely should have tasted it first. |

4/8/2006 - concorde wrote: 90 pointsNot quite what I was expecting, i opened and decanted. The bottle started off very weak but improved over the course of an hour or so. I recall that on the palate, it was a cross between bubble gum and pine tar (if thats possible). Definite coffee on the finish, which left something of a bitter afterbite. I love pride cab sauv, but i'm not as hot over this cab franc. Still, its quality is quite good, and merits an outstanding score. |

4/6/2006 - concorde wrote: 90 pointsvery nice, particularly after it opens up. Not a blockbuster, but not a laggard either. Smells like the pine trees in summer in the Pacific Northwest. Warm on the palate, with prunes, chestnuts, and a touch of tar. This one surprised me alot. Medium finish, about 20+ sec. I will probably get more of this. And to think that I bought this because a friend lives near the winery... :) |

2/6/2006 - concorde wrote: 93 pointsDeep ruby red. Intense floral nose with blueberry and hints of saddle leather. The wine gets really interesting on the palate. It has a very musky, charcoal taste, which weighs down on the wine. Extremely tannic, as it should be, but also smooth. The weight of the wine on the palate makes you expect a longer finish, so in some ways you end up a bit disappointed despite a respectable 20+ seconds. All of the taste lingered at the top of the mouth. Quite interesting. |
