Opened and tasted right away. At first the acid and tannins in this wine were front and center, and were bullying the fruit to the point where it was hiding. Cranberry, sour strawberry. So I threw it into a decanter for about an hour. After the hour, it was a great pairing for a grilled prime NY Strip. After dinner though, the fruit came to the forefront as this mellowed out a bit. Really interesting to taste this over a 4 hour period. My suggestion is to decant this wine for 1.5 to 2 hours before drinking.

Popped and let breathe for about 45 minutes before consumption. It did not *need* a decant, and we did not decant, but it may have benefited from a decant. Fruit forward with some tannins left. Paired with a filet and a NY Strip, but the wine drank better on its own after several hours of air in the bottle.

Still gobs of fruit left. Popped and let breathe for about an hour before starting consumption. In a good spot and not falling off a cliff anytime soon, but if you like it more on the youthful side, I would drink up soon.

Decanted for one hour and consumed over 1.5 hours after that. Powerful nose of rose petals, cherry. Nice cherry and cranberry fruit predominant on the palate. Drinking pretty well at this point in time. Paired with meat sauce over pasta and it complemented the meal nicely.

Big wine that is drinking well after 1.5 - 2 hours in the decanter. Still tannins and acid that need age or air time to resolve. Good core of fruit. No rush on drinking this wine. 93 after the 2 hour decant.

Decanted for about an hour before consumption. This wine is very interesting. To me, it was a constant give and take between a strong cranberry note, and some sweet oak that is still in the mix. Overall, this is more Bordeaux like IMO. A bit different than other vintages of this wine. I really enjoyed this, paired with filet and NY Strip.

Very big Syrah that needs a 2+ hour decant to show its stuff. After a lot of air, black pepper, olive, bacon....very Northern Rhone and tasty.

Popped and let breathe for about 2 hours. Definitely fruit forward with some oak presence that was much better integrated by the 3rd hour open. Nice QPR if you like this style.

Popped on day 1, and had a glass. Really tight. Vacu-vin after day 1 with most of the bottle remaining.

Day 2: Bottle open for about 3 hours.

Nose: Lavender, strong floral notes, blueberry, blackberry, violet.

Palate: Blueberry pie, wild cherry, watermelon, damp earth.

Nice finish. Great value for ~$22.

Cork disintegrated during opening. Decanted for 30 minutes and served slightly below rom temp.

Nose: Unripe raspberry, cranberry, hints of cedar, white pepper.

Palate: Ripe raspberry, graphite, hints of vanilla, well integrated tannins.

In a pretty good spot right now for a 12 year old Napa cab. Still a fair amount of fruit, with secondary flavors starting to peak out.

A range of tasting notes on this wine. Not sure if this is due to bottle variation or just perception. To me I do see what others are saying that the wine is a bit thin and restrained, with lower tannin. With that said, I did get a healthy dose of cherry, leather, sandalwood, and the wine showed relatively well for me. My only concern is that there was very little tannin left on the wine, and with muted fruit, this wine may not be a candidate for cellaring for many more years. I hope I am wrong, as I have 3 left.

Popped and let breathe for about 20 minutes, and then decanted for another 20 before starting consumption.

Nose: Sweet blueberry effervescence, vanilla, grilled meat, white pepper.

Palate: Similar to the nose (blueberry effervescence), notes of prune. Tannins all resolved with the air time it got.

We drank on its own with no food.

Popped and let breathe for about 20 minutes and this was drinking great.

Nose: Blueberry, blackberry, decent oak presence but not distracting.

Palate: Blackberry, blueberry, perhaps a hint of pomegranate. Balanced acidity and fruit. In a great place right now from an integration standpoint.

Can be drank on its own but paired well with aggressively seasoned NY Strip and Filet Mignon.

93 for me, 94 for the wife (wife wins) :-)

PnP after a Coravin glass two days prior.

Nose: Cedar, hint of baking spice, black cherry.

Palate: Ripe cherry, blackberry, medium minus tannins, touch of anise. Not a candidate for long term cellaring IMO, but very tasty for what it is. Took about 15 minutes of air in the glass to show well.

Nose: Ripe red raspberry, vanilla extract (still some oak presence, but not obtrusive), baking spice.

Palate: Ripe red raspberry, blueberry, balanced fruit presence, with milk chocolate notes on the finish. Long finish of 20+ seconds. In a great spot right now.

Popped and let breathe for about 2 hours. Did not taste initially, but after two hours of slow ox, this was drinking great. Certainly lower tannin on this wine, but I don't see it falling off a cliff anytime soon. However, it may not get any better IMO. No detailed notes taken on the flavor profile.

Agree with others that this is in a good spot right now. I have had the '09 and '10 vintages of this wine and I feel like the fruit has faded significantly. That was not the case with this vintage right now - still plenty of fruit left.
Decanted for about 2 hours before consumption, and it needed at least one hour before it was drinking well (based on sampling).
