8/20/2022 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NROpened and let sit for approximately 1 hour prior to tasting. The bouquet is amazing. Loads of tobacco leaf, black cherry, incense smoke, and warm dry oak. There's a compelling black pepper note that emerges with more air. On the palate it's integrated and balanced with silky tannins and tons of roasted plum, ripe tomato, oak, and baking spices meandering across your palate. The finish is clean with the beautiful tapering feeling that I so love. |

7/9/2022 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NRPopped and poured, shows a pale gold with just a touch of aging. Lots of pear and tart apple at first, with a hint of green apricot. The acid is holding up great, with allows notes of chalk on the palate. Still chugging along, I think this has perhaps peaked but will stay this way for many years. |

7/9/2022 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NROpened around cellar temp. Beautiful pale waxy gold in the glass with aromas of ripe meyer lemon, buttercream, and wet river rocks. Tastes much like it smells, with very good length and depth across the palate. Very good acidity and beautiful balance. |

5/28/2022 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NRProbably the best $19 wine I have ever bought. Just in a fantastic place with tons of acid holding ripe orchard fruit and golden apple flavors. The way it washes over your palate, at once satisfying and refreshing you nails what I want in a German Riesling. |

6/14/2022 - ucbeau Does not like this wine: NRCorked, like many of the other bottles of this producer. Not the worst though. Underneath it was some lovely tart cherry/cranberry, mountain herb, hints of balsamic, and a dusty soil note. Unfortunately there was a musty, wet cardboard scent overlaying everything. |

5/12/2022 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NROpened approximately 1 hour prior to serving. Pours a purple/garnet, no signs of aging just yet. On the nose there is a beautiful mix of wild blackberry/black cherry, licorice, warm oak, and some black pepper. Lots of harmony, like everything is working nicely together. The palate shows tons of life left, some firm tannins that give way to a truly excellent balance of cherry, pepper, baking spice, hints of dried herb, and subtle campfire. So much balance and texture too. I love how the finish persisted, gently tapering off to get you ready for your next sip. |

3/5/2022 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NROpened approximately 1 hour prior to serving. Pours a purple tinged red with paling meniscus. Bramble and red cherry, forest floor, tree bark on the nose. Everything was very well integrated and balanced. The acidity was still present though the tannins were fading. Still, this remains exceptional and a fantastic example of the vintage. |

6/8/2019 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NRFun to drink. Served chilled. Rounder and richer with oak notes makes me think this was barrel aged perhaps. Good red fruit and nice acidity. |

2016 Marc Colin et Fils Santenay Vieilles VignesPinot Noir more |
6/8/2019 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NROpened and tasted over the course of about 2 hours. Initially very reductive with darker fruit underneath. With vigorous swirling a mix of red and blue fruit emerges, along with forest floor and hints of warm oak barrel. Good acidity and firm, young tannins indicated this will get better over the next 10 years. |

1/12/2019 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NRBeautifully showing right now. Tons of citrus and red berries throughout, also highlights of wet river rock and a subtle green apple note throughout. Still a bit young but all the pieces are there for at least another decade of evolution. A real treat! |

1/12/2019 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NRIncredible. Chilled for about 1 hour prior to serving, then tasted over the course of 3 hours. Pours a beautiful yellow-gold. Powerful nose of yellow orchard fruit, citrus pith, brioche, and freshly roasted almonds. Hints of oak meander throughout, lending definition to the pure flavors. The palate seems to be showing exactly what aged Chardonnay should; Ripe fruit and spices, penetrating minerality, brioche, roasted nuts, all bound together by fully integrated acidity. Drinking this wine was a special experience. |

2010 Clos Bellane Côtes du Rhône Villages ValréasSyrah Blend, Syrah more |
1/11/2019 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NRPopped and poured. Comes across as a relatively straightforward CdR. Plenty of dark fruit and peppery spices, all holding together nicely. I like that there is still some acidity to counter the richness of the fruit and softness of the tannins. Paired very well with roast chicken. I don't think this will get any better but should hold for another few years at least. |

2010 Domaine Jean-Claude Marsanne St. JosephSyrah more |
12/14/2018 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NROpened about 1.5 hours prior to serving. Seems to be in a really great spot. Plenty of the dark/savory side of Syrah in play here. A mix of black plum and boysenberry, brined black olives and hints of bacon fat. It gets better with air, a bit of oak emerges to balance things out and there's this persistent, subtle garrigue that helps tie everything together. Chewy tannins and balanced acidity present an absolutely wonderful take on Saint-Joseph. |

2012 Arnot-Roberts Syrah North Coastmore |
12/14/2018 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NROpened about 1.5 hours prior to serving. Pours a bright garnet-flecked red. Nice bit of earthy peppercorn and tart red fruit initially, along with more subtle dried herbs and even some oak. Wonderful acidity and brightness, we all felt this wasn't really showing much age. If it is, I think it's from the integration of the tannins. Good red and black fruit mix, without being overripe. A spicy, woodsy finish suggests some stems and aged oak. Drinking wonderfully right now. |

2017 Brick House Gamay Noir Due EastRibbon Ridge more |
12/14/2018 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NROpened about 1 hour prior to tasting. Shows very primary at this point. Bright red fruit, stem, hints of oak, white pepper aromas. Youthful across the palate, with prickly acidity and very, very fine tannins. There is a lovely core of ripe tart-red fruit at play and the finish is surprisingly lengthy. This was very enjoyable now and shows great potential. Best after 2021. |

10/27/2018 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NRStill crazy primary, with loads of darker fruit and black pepper, a hint of oak as well. Decanted for 3 hours or so without much change. Probably needs another decade to evolve into secondary phase. Chewy tannins surround the ripe fruit and the wine has lovely balance. Seems to straddle the line between old and new world syrah. |

2010 Domaine Philippe Tessier Cheverny RougeRed Blend more |
10/28/2018 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NRFun, easy drinking, with a hint of dusty mineral/rock tone to keep it interesting. Lots of lighter red fruit and plenty of acidity. Nothing too serious or complex, and actually may do well with a light chill. |

2010 Luminous Hills Pinot NoirYamhill-Carlton more |
10/27/2018 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NROpened and set out for about half an hour prior to tasting. Shows rich, ripe fruit on the nose, some warm oak, and forest floor notes. Very easy to drink but still has firm, grippy tannins. Perhaps another 3-5 years will help integrate those more. A very, very well made wine that just needs more time in the cellar, in my opinion. |

2010 Domaine Saint Antonin Faugères Lou CazaletSyrah Blend, Syrah more |
9/13/2018 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NRTasted over several hours. Dark, inky black still. Throwing some sediment as well. Lots of blackberry and plum at first, campfire, garrigue, and then some red fruit emerged. Spicy raspberry licorice notes. Good acidity and very good tannic integration. Went great with food. |

8/24/2018 - ucbeau Likes this wine: NRPours dark and densely colored. A rich, layered nose of brambly fruit, asphalt, black dusty soil, along with hints of orange rind. Took a few hours to really get open but once it did, there was a lovely balance of power plus finesse. Excellent complexity, youthful tannins, and enough acidity to hold it all together. I think this will only get better, but even now it's a superb wine. |
