VC Wednesday night group (Ypsilanti, MI): Light color, light bodied, medium acidity, more sweetness to the fruit than I'd prefer.

20 People Bring a Bottle (Good, The Bad & The Ugly) (Edina, MN): Didn't really look to closely at the region and now my 80 point score makes sense. Paso is home to some of the worst deals on Cabernet in the world. I can't think who would be second but they are 1. Sweet, oak chips, ripe fruit and smoke.

Youthful. Fun. Smacks you in the mouth with bright strawberry and sour cherry fruit carried on a beam of vibrant acidity. Decent length. Initially a little green upon opening (screw top) but rounded out nicely day 2. Not a serious wine for contemplation, but a tasty one to be quaffed and enjoyed.

Pale lemon in color with a golden hue.

Nose of citrus, lemons, light diesel, apples, light vegetables and spices.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with limes, lemons, apples, peaches, minerals and white pepper.

Medium finish with limes and light earth.

This is a very tasty Riesling from Edna Valley in california. Engaging with mild complexity.

Good right out of the bottle, easy drinking and good for parties. I had it all by itself by the lake.

Aged for 7 months in a combination of neutral barrels and stainless steel.

12.9% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

$34.

Starts out with a very perfumed bouquet and ends in a long complex finish with flavors of berries, plums and some chocolate. Medium, silky body. In a perfect drinking spot right now. Drinks at twice its price. Wish I had more.

Moderately full bodied.
Initially a lovely taste of dark cherries and plum.
A little chocolate cedar and tobacco.
Enough tannin and acid.
Moderate finish
As others have noted this is not a huge bomb, rather it is more subtle and compatible with food or solo.
I hope to buy more.

A few years ago, Kathy and I dined in Marseille. On the waterfront. We had fish. White fish. The freshness, the preparation, the presentation, everything about that meal set a new standard for us.

Today, we’ll try something similar at home. Our recipe for Mediterranean baked white fish included olive oil, pepper and salt, lemons, cherry tomatoes, green olives, bit of red onion, garlic, oregano and fresh thyme. Kathy added a dish of green beans almandine and a basic rice pilaf.

For this occasion, I opened a bottle of Bishop’s Peak 2019 Chardonnay. Talley Vineyards make this wine from grapes sourced in San Luis Obispo County, and develops it with stainless steel and neutral oak.

We didn’t have the ambiance of Marseille of course, but we did have Edith Piaf. It worked well. The food was delicious and the steel aged Chardonnay was a good match. Fresh, crisp, lemons, and tart apples. I thought for a moment I could smell the sea.

Simple but very crisp and pure. You know you're drinking SB but its not overly grassy or grapefruit-y. Short finish. Very good QPR at auction price. Pair with oysters. Lots of oysters.

A lot going on with this blend, dark fruits from the PV balanced by multiple varietals for a full frontal berried attack. Smooth and pretty delicious at this stage in fact.
