4/1/2015 - CJChampion Likes this wine: 89 pointsJust drank this last night, had forgotten I had it. I was ready for a tired over th hill bottle but it was great. A big wine still retaining lots of fruit and a little earth and never faded over the 3 hours it took to drink it. Very pleased. |

7/3/2013 - mxpbuy Likes this wine: 90 pointsWhat a wonderful and pleasant surpise. Nice sweet red fruits with some black fruits and just the right touches of veggies in the background. Smooth and pleasant. Fades a bit after mid palate, but I'll give it an extra point for its longevity. |

After 30 minutes, some blackberry and raspberry aromas come out. On the palate, decent fruit with firm tannins. Was OK with food, not as much on its own. |

7/16/2009 - spo wrote: 84 pointsOn opening the nose is a little musty (like a Musar) with mushroom and pine. The pine and forest floor is very much in the palate. At times it is a little gamy and a little bit metallic (in this case not a detractor). There is some nice red and black fruit with a resin sweetness. The tannin and acid on this are in a good place. I would like this even better in 5-6 years when the fruit is fading out and integrates with the the other flavors a bit more. |

This is impressive for a $12 grocery store wine. In the mouth it is the prototypical California wine with flamboyant fruit and a lush mouth feel. The finish is a bit short, but for $12 this is not a bad deal by any means for people to get an idea of what to expect from a California Merlot. |

8/10/2008 - nubbin wrote: 86 pointsClear, garnet color. Nose: clean with dusty fruit, raisin, plum, and light baking spices. Palate: Light-bodied with nice juicy fruit -- blackberries and ripe strawberries. Nice on front of palate and mid palate. Stops at back of palate with a weak finish. Very light tannic structure. Good for a light, summer-weight red that could almost be chilled for 15-20 minutes. Affordable. Perfect salmon wine. 13.6% alco (D5.5, F 5.5) |

7/21/2008 - nubbin wrote: 87 pointsOdd to find a 2000 vintage of a Cabernet Franc at a very low price. Nose was very dusty -- dash board dusty -- keeping the fruit hidden. The first taste was tight, dry, and dusty. Decanted and waited 20 minutes. Tannins had softened and dustiness had subdued but not disappeared. Fruit began emerging -- some dark berries, brambles, earthiness, and the dust. Medium bodied with firm tannins. It was good with our vegetarian dinner but would have been better with fatty meat. 13.5% alco (D 8, F 4) |

Everyone Ooed and Ahhed over this one and we drank it with a salmon and beet salad as our second course on Easter. A little heavier in body than most Pinots I have has recently. The fruit was mellow and sweet but no pronounced cherry as expected. Smooth and clean finish that lasted a while. Yum! |
