9/1/2014 - storysworld Likes this wine: 89 pointsNot much of a tannic presence, this is ready to go and not something you want to lay down for too long. Very good on night 1, the kind of bottle you bring to a party and everyone will find enjoyable. Wasn't nearly as enjoyable on night 2 though. |

4/24/2014 - storysworld wrote: 84 pointsGotta say this was my least enjoyable Quivet bottling I've had. That being said, a fantastic nose with floral notes, citrus, pear all present, but on the palate it just didn't stack up to the expectation built up by the nose. Didn't find it overly hot as some others have, but still possibly not my style of SB. An unpleasant bitterness present too. Will give my other bottle some time. |

4/14/2014 - storysworld Likes this wine: 91 pointsQuite aromatic on the PnP with rich dark fruit bursting out. Slightly tannic out of the bottle, but these dissipate quickly and by night 2 are almost completely resolved. On night 1, I found myself slightly confused on whether I liked this or not, there were elements I liked (the aromatics, the luscious fruit), but there were other elements (a bit tart, out of balance acidity) that were putting me off. By night 2, it all became clear, this evolved into a very elegant, lighter styled and smooth glass of wine. I was left wanting more. |

4/8/2014 - storysworld wrote: 91 pointsHmmm...a very different experience than others. Perfumed berries on the initial pop, but a prominent almost Pinot-like, earthy, funkiness on the nose. This persisted throughout the night at all stages of the evolution. Lighter in style, but with a nice peppered spice for the 1st hour or so. Hints of tea leaves and tobacco also there. Interesting layers here, an elegant wine. Curious to see where this goes in the next few years. |

4/3/2014 - storysworld Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis is still young IMO. Needed at least 2+ hours to open up, but once it did, VERY nice!Intense cherry with an almost candied nose to it, in a good way. Still very primary. Some hints of licorice and tobacco there too. Soft and smooth tannins, nice balance of acids. Looking forward to seeing where my remaining two bottles go in the years ahead. |

3/23/2014 - storysworld wrote: 91 pointsSmooth comes to mind, easy drinker. This is the bottle you bring to the party full of non-wine drinkers and listen to everyone say it's the best bottle of Zinfandel they've ever had. And while it does have good fruit and a beautiful nose, it lacks the complexity and stuffing of the Geyserville. At its peak, drink up now. |

3/18/2014 - storysworld Likes this wine: 93 pointsA phenomenal Ridge zin and a model of what I like my zin to be. A wonderful aroma of perfectly ripened berries with just a touch of oak at the start. A nice note of spice/herbs present on entry with just enough of a soft tannic bite. Love the layers of complexity here as it evolves through the evening. I could drink this every week! |

3/2/2014 - storysworld wrote: 88 pointsUp front the alcohol is quite apparent with your nose near the glass and not in a good way. After a little time in the glass, it opens up a bit and smooths out. Nice ripe, dark fruited berries are there with a solid balance of acidity. Not a tannic wine at all at this time. Solid wine. |

2/19/2014 - storysworld wrote: 93 pointsHonestly had no expectations going in, but thoroughly enjoyed the evolution from the moment the cork was pulled till the bottle was consumed at the end of the night. Prominent cherry aromas with just the right amount of that signature Pinot funk which does burn off within the hour. Smooth initial mouthfeel with a dusty tree barkish finish on the PnP. After 30 min in the glass, that finish is gone and replaced with an equally satisfying luscious alternative. Completely bummed I don't have more of this. |
