11/13/2020 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis wine is going strong and developing nicely. It has clearly improved in its drinkability compared to previous notes, coming into a good drinking window now. It shows some fiery acidity, and some elevated alcohol, but is balanced by the ripeness of the fruit and the tannic depth of the grapes. The wine displays a welcoming nose of dark ripe red fruits, earth elements, and wood. In the mouth it provides a powerful punch. It is not yet as mellow and smooth as it smells. It is a welcome find on the store shelf 14 years after the vintage! Could go on to improve... |

6/14/2019 - Ncjordan wrote: flawedBAsed on the generally consistent positive reviews on this wine, I conclude that this bottle was horribly flawed. There is a persistent Bizarre aroma coming from the glass. It smells uncannily exactly like cat shit. Atbfirstminthlught maybe some weird native local grape varietals cofermenting and making an out-there southern French wine from a small appellation, but it’s Pretty Unmistakeable and foul. I’m curious as to what the compound or flaw in this bottle could be? If anyone knows, please do share in the comments |

11/28/2018 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: 88 pointsGood on day one though! Few wines in the world are still good on day 3 after being opened . If they are, it’s a sign they are to be aged for more time in the cellar. This wine now, on day one opened, exudes a life of earth on the nose. Super sense of place; Upland old world Spain. Brilliant acidity carries this ripe fruited earthbound yet elegant red through the taught medium plus bodied mid palate to a drying fine tannin finish. To age decently well in bottle for sure in the near to medium term despite the poor showing on “day 3”. |

3/13/2018 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis wine is holding strong! I Agree with the previous note. But here, 4 years later, this 2010 is proving its Ageability. The wine has deposited its coarse tannins into a pile at the bottom and held back at the shoulder of the bottle. Still rather reluctant on the nose upon opening, but showing ever more intrigue with an hour of air and temperature. On the palate, There is a solid core of medium plus alcohol and juicy sweet red and black fruit with some persistent tannic structure. I thought on release that this wine could age well and improve so I kept this one. and it certainly shows today that this is true and going strong. Glad I opened it to experience its progression, but want to find more if possible! 2010 is legit. |

11/26/2017 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: 92 pointsDrinking and showing so youthfully! dark purple crimson core, still maintaining its bright purple pink hued rim. Immense nose of stewed plum, earthy rock, and black raspberry coulis/sauce. Clean, bright, uplifting and inviting. Nice from the start, but Improving and evolving with time in the glass. It is fresh to drink with medium plus acidity. The alcohol is moderate, at 13.5% but seems lower. Balanced fruit/acid/alcohol. medium tannins still present. This wine has been improving for 2 years since I've followed it and should continue to soften and integrate nicely for years to come. I'm buying all I can of this vintage for $8.99 a bottle. Great juice. Fantastic wine bringing the old world into the new! |

11/17/2017 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: 92 pointsNice maturity. Red core with red brick garnet rim. Dark wooded and red fruit nose. Alcohol medium plus, acidity medium plus, tannin medium plus. Needs time to open up and come up to temperature. Palette enters thin, weightless, light, but comes up with persistent fine tannic finish that follows some hot, tart red fruits and wood. Nose is Bordeaux like and enticing for fine aged wine lovers. Nose is concentrated, focused, evolving, enjoyable. Somewhat short tannic and tart in the mouth. Old world. Good wine. Drink with patience. |

8/18/2017 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: NRVery nice, drying tannins should subside in 2-3 years and make this even better. Great earthy dark stewed cherry plum berry nose. Lengthy dry medium fine tannins through mid palate to finish and beyond. |

2/19/2017 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis IS a very nice wine. It may have been in a closed stage when the previous notes were written, both in 2009. Today, 10 years mature, the wine shows a garnet rim with a deep red, clear as glass, Crimson core. The nose was expressive right out of the bottle; Dark leather bound fruits and clay. The palate entry is clean and channels medium level, balanced alcohols and acids through to a back of the mouth, Pleasing, medium plus tannic finish. Sweet, meats and Chocolate stewed raspberry strawberry and plum pudding fill the palate. In my opinion, This is a true to form, right-bank Merlot-based Bordeaux. |

It is Bold, expressive, and balanced in its stated youthful intent; A bright sweet blend of blue red and black Fruits, With Just a glimmer of rich clay earth in the nose and mouth. It Is delicious and well Made. A Fantastic value in my opinion. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

1/26/2017 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: 90 pointsGarnet with a crimson core. Wine shows promise and craftsmanship. Aged well. Mature now. Ready to drink. Starts tight, woody and flat. Opens nicely to bright deep dark fruits both fresh and cooked. Wooded elements remain, but come into balance with complex hidden fruits. Old world. Awesome value. |

12/22/2016 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: 90 pointsMmmmm nice dark meaty wine. Dark crimson red to black. Some orange bricking toward the edge. Dark olive is the dominant fruit. Nose mostly dominated by wood at first. Nice old wood. Dry. Good tannic structure coming in to balance. Great old world Syrah, Cab, and Merlot blend. Delicious. Aged well so far. 12/18/2016 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis wine is very good. A dark Crimson, ruby color. Very overt and compelling nose of plum and strawberry pie, over ripe tomatoes and burnt milk chocolate wood chips. However so far, only 1 out of 6 bottles from a case has been in good condition. All the others are cooked and flawed. |

12/18/2016 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: NRNot mine to score, however, tonight I sold 2 bottles to the same table of 4 as sommelier/waiter at Bernard's Restaurant, Ridgefield, Connecticut, USA. Both bottles in excellent condition and consistent; minimal sediment, nose of earthy fruits and what is probably familiar Pichon Comtesse. Apparently ready to drink according to the guests this evening, and concurrent with other 2001 Bordeaux I have tasted recently. |

9/15/2016 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: 90 points8 years after bottling, and 6 years since the most recent prior note, and this bottle is drinking very very well. The color is good. The wine is in balance with acidity and mouthfeel. The aromas are subtle but present and compelling. I don't have too much experience with California Sauvignon blanc yet, but this wine serves an indication of good things. Very good things. |

9/1/2016 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis is a beaut! Kind of a beast too. Great Southern Hemisphere hot ripe red with alcohol, extraction, but also acid balance. Still deep dark red in color, almost black in hue and opacity. I sense new toasted oak that gives rich charred black berry and dark roast coffee on the nose. These notes are echoed by the profound sweet fruit and tannins (which are present and starting to precipitate amid the wine). |

8/7/2016 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: NRNice earthy Bordeaux-like nose. Somewhat volatile. Tart acidity and medium plus tannins. Essentially Brings to mind a pleasant meld between Bordeaux and Tuscan Italian Sangiovese based wines. Old work in character. Color is a dark Crimson with slight red orange bricking starting just at the rim. Tannins are still firm and present. Acidity is present in the mouth and felt on the nose. Nice wine; Pricey though. |

8/3/2016 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: 92 pointsStill drinking Beautifully! The color is still bright pale straw, with almost a hint of green life in it. A welcome Burgundy mineral presence on the nose along with 2009 ripeness of fruit and a swift whiff of some old and exquisitely used tight-grained French oak casks. Great path for this very well balanced wine... Dare I say perfect place for it now in 2016. Too good to only have one bottle left. |

5/6/2016 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: 91 pointsThis is a full throttle high alcohol sappy southern Rhone red. Nice candied earthy red fruit confiture and sun made raisins. Improving over the course of the night. This will continue to age well. Easily another 5 years to maturity. The alcohol will preserve this, and probably outlive the tannin and fruit. Just enough acidity to balance things out. Serious and well made wine. |

2012 Primus Cabernet SauvignonMaipo Valley more |
4/29/2016 - Ncjordan Does not like this wine: 85 pointsDark crimson red color. Heavy nose of sweet earthy chocolate berries, but confused, covered, and muddled by mixed baking spice aromas Presumeably attributed to heavy bathing in new oak. High alcohol is perceptible immediately on the palate, especially with air intake. This is a hot heavy wine from Chile. Not necessarily unappealing; it probably will be to most, but it tastes like every other new world Cabernet or cab blend I've come across. I was a big fan of the 2009 Primus 'The Blend', so much so that I bought future vintages and bottles, including this Cabernet. I found the '09 to be a balanced endeavor that still showed and shined its sense of place in Chile. However, I do not plan to buy more from this label. Neither this wine, nor the 2013 'The Blend' is as balanced or, in my opinion, well made as the previously mentioned vintage. Very worked, and over the top. If, if it ages well, I will eat my words...But I do not expect too much. Go for it if you crave a big cloying alcoholic fruit bomb that is sweet smelling and nondescript. The only cool thing is the hint of earthiness on the nose under the alcohol and candy spices. Maybe with a charred rare steak. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

4/4/2016 - Ncjordan Likes this wine: 90 pointsNot fading. Maybe less concentrated than a Hermitage, but this wine is Very focused and well made. Bright, dark red juicy fruit. Color is youthful and clarity impeccable. Some corse sediment but no cloudiness. Quite a chiseled character with a slight toasted coffee tannin element along with the dark red fruit and juicy acidity. Nice expression of pure Syrah. Should be nice to add complexity and subtlety with some time in bottle, probably no more than 3-5 more years. Before the acidity becomes too dominant. |
