My 2nd bottle of the year.

It took 30 minutes to open up in a big wine glass.

On the nose, it gives off strawberries, red fruits, mixed berries and forest floor. on the palate, it has restrained red fruit notes, with tart strawberries and berries notes. With air, it has brown sugar / coke like notes and is noticeably sweet. Lots of depth and good length.

On the nose, it has complex notes of sesame, hazelnut, along with the usual notes of puligny montrachet.

On the palate, it has wonderfully harmonised notes of honey, nuts, sesame, white flowers and the lot. It doesn't have the grand cru length or intensity, the roasted sesame notes of Leflaive's BMs, the pronounced floral notes of les pucelles, nor the marked minerality of CM, but it has almost all other flavours you would expect of a top puligny montrachet.

Sensational stuff.

From magnum.

Very cloudy on appearance, which is expected of an old wine.

On nose, it has waves of dark fruits, rose petals and forest floor. On the palate, it is simply phenomenal. It is obviously sweet, but not sweetened. The mixed berries and rose petal notes keep on reverberating, and are nicely balanced by the vibrant underlying acidity. The fruits / sweetness combo is very lush but without being over-the-top. For the first 2-3 hours, there is almost everything I could ask for but nothing is in excess. The fruits only starts to recede thereafter.

Double decanted 8 hours prior to serving. It has good dose of grapefruit, citrus fruits and minerality on the palate. For now, 2010 Arnaud Ente Bourgogne Blanc tastes far better and more ready.

Extremely attractive airy strawberry nose. On palate, it has good mix of bright red cherries, strawberries, mixed berries, fried sesame flavours. Wonderfully mature Chambolle

It has all the unmistakably VR aromas and notes of asian five spices, floral and dark fruits. The unyielding bold structure is evident, and with a lot more air / years of bottle ageing, it should became a great wine.

Opened around 9am, recorked thereafter and opened at 7pm.

Initially, the fruity and white flower notes were a bit too generous and riper than expected. With air, the wine became more harmonised, showing spearmint, vanilla pod and mineral notes. It drinks well now.

Opened at 5pm, served around 7:30pm. On the nose, the regal Grand cru aromas were immediately obvious. Very vibrant, without overly ripe nor intense. Very polished, but not the most dense Chambertin I've come across. It kept on getting better throughout the night, and should improve with 5 or 10 more years of bottle ageing.

Magnum.

This is drinking quite well, with some mature notes of honey and hazelnuts. Not as yeasty, fresh, precise or "mineral" than the magnum that I had a few years ago.

Better to start drinking up now.

Lots of sweet red fruit notes, with reasonable complexity. But the barnyard note is quite persistent.

Better with food. This is at peak now, but can last for a few more years in the cellar.

This needs a lot of aeration to open up. On day 2 and day 3, the wine shows its real potential. Masses of acidity, minerality, white flowers, and lots to chew on. Slightly more reductive and smokier than the usual Hunting Hill Chardonnay. This should be celleared for a few more years. Patience is needed.

Serve it at room temperature, air this in a big wine glass for a few hours. Then it will become a very fine chardonnay that can easily beat most of the Puligny Montrachet village level wines. It is astoundingly complex and harmonious on the palate, and comes with a long pleasant finish.

Aerated for 3 hours in decanter. The tannins are very fine and approachable. But given the atypicity of 17 vintage, it lacks the usual depth of cab. It’s decent, and barely drinkable now. Should benefit from ageing in the next few years.

Very lively mousse, with intense bruised apple and citrusy flavours. It has some brioche and nutty flavours in the background too. Nice combo of primary and well-aged flavours. It is enjoyable now, and should continue to improve in the next few years.

Very biodynamic, almost murky nose. Lots of dark fruits and remarkable level of fine tannins. There is lots going on, far from ready to show its real glory.

When PnP, the red fruit notes are very expressive, perhaps too rich and liquer-like for a burgundy. With air, the fruity notes become more harmonised and the MSD signature notes (candied cherry / dr. pepper) start to reveal themselves in the background. What an effort for a MSD 1er cru.

Slightly more advanced than ideal, perhaps flirting with premox. But the wine holds up well, and the vanilla pod/honey/white flower notes keep reverberating throughout the night. Wonderful and astounding performance.

When PnP, the wine has a fairly floral bouquet of strawberries and red fruits. With air, the bouquet reveals pollen-like rose petal notes - gentle, ethereal but not perfumy.

On the palate, it has refreshing acidity and rose petal notes. Not awfully complex, but pleasant and persistent enough for grand cru burgundy. After a few hours or airing, the palate becomes plummy and tertiary.

Decanted for 2 hours before dinner. The wine kept on getting better in the glass for the next 3 hours.

The nose is all right, but the most fragrant of Palmer.

The fruits (cassis, red fruits etc..) are ripe but without being over-the-top, and get sweeter with air. The acidity is barely enough to balance out the fruits. The tannins are very fine and well managed. Lots of fine sentiments.

More dense and intense than the other Aux Boudot, but not quite the Leroy pedigree. Very good for the first few hours, and the flavours started to fall apart in the 5th hour.
