12/25/2009 - WWSGURU wrote: 95 pointsWonderful Pinot - a bit closed when I opened it, but I decanted and it just got better and better. The well balanced acid went well with fresh crab. Still a bit young to consume especially in a 3 L format, but it was the hit of the party and every drop was drunk! |

2003 Peter Michael Chardonnay La CarrièreKnights Valley more |
12/24/2009 - WWSGURU wrote: 93 pointsThe wine was softer than I expected. Complex aroma soft peach with caramel wood overtones. Lacked minerality and crisp acid backbone. Good Chardonnay, clearly different than most Napa Chardonnays, but fairly pricey for what you get. |

2001 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Volnay 1er Cru Santenots-Du-MilieuPinot Noir more |
10/31/2009 - WWSGURU wrote: 93 pointsThe 2001 Lafon Volnay was paired with its twin a Lafon Meursalt (Barre). The Pinot was very soft and not overstated. Nose was classic burgundy but not intense. Taste was a great balance of minerals and fruit though we all thought it was going through a "closed down" period. If you have any, resist the temptation to open any for a few more years. A closed tight wine is only slightly better than a corked wine. |

2001 Comte Armand Pommard 1er Cru Clos des EpeneauxPinot Noir more |
8/2/2009 - WWSGURU wrote: 95 pointsWhat a classic burgundy - From the very earthy nose to the complex and lingering finish. Could have lasted some more years, but the cherry fruit had already faded, and the pronounced black pepper of Pommards was subtle. |

2001 Lange Pinot Noir Freedom Hill VineyardWillamette Valley more |
7/13/2009 - WWSGURU wrote: 89 pointsClassic Oregon Pinot. Light in color but plenty of dark cherry flavors rolling off the tongue. Haven't been a fan of their generic pinot, but this Freedom Hill fruit was great. |

7/13/2009 - WWSGURU wrote: 91 pointsA few years old, but it has balanced out nicely against the moderate level of oak used in their chards. Beautiful golden color with wonderful noise and taste. Not a grand cru burgundy, but better than most Napa chards - it reminded me of the Mt. Eden chard I drank last week. |

6/8/2009 - WWSGURU wrote: 92 pointsHad a few years on the bottle - but it was a big bottle well integrated with cherry fruit tones. Tasted even better after a few hours. Many at the party said they really liked it and it went well with Paella. |

6/6/2009 - WWSGURU wrote: flawedVery dusty / sage nose. Not your typical oregon pinot, a bit of red fruit but tasted quite weak and odd. Something was wrong with this (not corked) just inconsistent. Shared with David Millman, the GM of DDO. |
