2007 Purisima Mountain Vineyard Syrah

Vineyards & Harvest

Grapes were hand harvested in mid-to-late October. Fruit came in with exceptional physiological ripeness and lower sugars thanks to the well balanced growing season. Low yields averaging 2 tons per acre, along with the long growing season, produced well-balanced, elegantly styled Syrah.

Winemaking

100% estate grapes from our Purisima Mountain Vineyard
The wine is a blend of the best lots from 2007, including clones - Estrella, 877, Shiraz clone #1
Individual vineyard lots were destemmed, gently crushed and cold-soaked for 4 days to extract color and taste-enhancing phenolics
The wine underwent spontaneous malolactic fermentation in barrel to integrate fruit and oak character
