November 23, 2022 - So as an hommage to my new friend who left a comment on my last note on this wine questioning my sanity for not decanting this wine on that occasion, I decided to decant this bottle for four hours before first partaking of it. Turns out, he was right; this is showing much better with a good decant. A good blood red color, this has a fine lead pencil shavings nose with good cedar notes in the background. Creme de menthe. Rather classic. Really quite excellent complexity. Pretty palate, too, with excellent if high-toned fruit, though it seems a bit hollow on the mid-palate. I'd say this is perfectly mature at the moment, and no doubt will hold here for a few years, but no need to defer pleasure or worry about drinking this too early so long as you air it out beforehand. Happy to say I have more bottles, as I think this is a pretty good value at about $100 for a 12-year-old Bordeaux from a great vintage. 5-13-15-8: 91/100.
