May 6, 2023 - 94/95. The last of the old style Vina Ardanza at 13/13.5%. Now its like a Chateauneuf du Pape. at 14.5%. Has aromas of mint, shale, leather, licorice, parchment, blackberries, diesel oil, raspberries and plums and clovey hints. Its solid medium bodied spherical and near profoundly structured lightly clovey black, blue and red fruits palate has wonderful depth, nice zinginess and ends mediumish, tangy and dryish. 13.5%. Lay down 20-40 years. Got this for 25 Euros! Outstanding value! Needs 7-8 hrs aeration. This will never be elegant like the 2005!

5/7/23, 5:02 AM - Yes, the 2010 Ardanza is outstanding indeed, somewhat better (IMO) than their very good 2012 and certainly superior to their somewhat average 2015. As for 2005, I cannot atest to the Ardanza, as I bought LRA's 904 instead but I will say that it, along with their 2001 remain among my most memorable Riojas ever. A hearty 'Yes' to LRA and their traditional, old style Riojas.
