Community Tasting Note

October 25, 2023 - Ruby, with a hint of bricking on the rim. Delicate perfumed nose; open blackcurrant/cassis with a bit of rose/florality. Searing acidity which is perhaps not a surprise; tannins are very well integrated but make their presence felt slightly on the finish. Fruit perhaps tends towards red. No pencil lead for me but certainly tertiary notes of cigar/leather starting to arrive. All in all it's a tiny bit mean; nose is incredible, though.

11/3/23, 3:49 PM - Appreciate the great note Jamieson120! Wondering how much air you were you able to give it? I have 2 and LLC can have a long curve for the oak to meld but I believe '01 is a somewhat earlier maturing vintage? Will the fruit hold up for the tannins? Thanks for any further thoughts you may have.

11/3/23, 3:59 PM - Hi Craig! It was at a sat-down tasting, so i would estimate that the bottle was opened immediately before pouring, and that it sat in the glass for ~1.5 hrs before tasting. For what it’s worth I don’t think that this was an overly closed LLC; for my palate 9/10 bottles of LLC are ‘not ready yet’, but that’s just the LLC style! Please don’t let me discourage you. If I had x bottles and hadn’t had one yet, I’d feel very confident opening one now; it’s certainly not too early, and how long they have ‘left’ (esp with LLC) is slightly however long a piece of string is!
